Started reading Hexwood.
Started reading Hexwood.
I just finished re-reading "The Book Thief" and well, gosh dang is it good. It feels incredibly real, and the writing is superb.
Also, Death always seems to be the best character in the books that I read, somehow.
sig quotes I guess? (one of them)
I am currently reading American Gods. It has been meeting expectations so far, though I am starting to miss Terry Pratchett's lighter writing style...
Your name is ILIKEOCTOPUS, but you are usually called OCTI for short. Your hobbies include PLAYING THE VIOLIN, READING, and GETTING DISTRACTED, though you sometimes try not to do that last one. Your chumhandle is cascadeViolinist and you tend to use contractions only when you are very excited and trail off in the middle and end of sentences... but you often attempt to avoid that.
Finally finishing Speaker for the Dead and Xenocide.
Fun fact: Orson Scott Card is a militant homophobe. Also mormon.
I'm not sure how I feel about that.
Mormons make the most fucked up books.
Mistborn? Made by a Mormon.
I am not a Serial Killer? Made by a Mormon.
Schlock Mercenary? Well that's a webcomic but that dudes Mormon too.
Anything I write will also end up being by a mormon.
I don't really care about the people behind things -with a few exceptions (Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett being those exceptions, because they're amazing)- because I enjoy what they do, not who they are. I could care less what the person believes or does or whatever, since it just doesn't factor into my experience. (Now, if someone were to do something terrible, I might boycott their stuff, even if I like it, but that's an entirely different thing; I won't stop liking the stuff just because they did whatever it was.)

Just finished Godel, Escher, Bach. While I'm recovering from my mind being TOTALLY BLOWN, I'm reading The Yiddish Policemen's Union by Michael Chabon. Really good.
I'm reading two rather large books, Ayn Rand's "Atlas Shrugged" and Leo Tolstoy's "War and Peace". I'm liking the former more than the latter, but they're both fairly enjoyable. Also, Terry Pratchett is awesome.
Finished Hexwood, and I loved it. It's my favorite kind of book; the kind where you have no fucking clue what's going on until the end, and even then there are still some parts you're not sure about. I also really liked the way the plot twists were handled.
I have been reading Masquerade by Terry Prachett recently. I guess I just enjoy every book in this gosh-darn series.
Plus Granny Weatherwax is just incredibly awesome. I get the strong feeling that she's 'good' because she has to be and not because she wants to be (wait, that's her entire damn philosophy!), and that combined with her bluntness, level-headedness and stubbornness make her a really interesting character.
Nanny Ogg is also great due to just trying to take advantage of her position as an elderly woman, having prankster tendencies and generally being somewhat opportunistic while having superior social skills. She's a good counterbalance to Granny.
Basically, they're both just interesting characters period.
A Feast For Crows
Brienne, you may continue to be awesome.
I'm a little over halfway through Foundation and Empire. I'm really liking the trilogy so far.
If you like sci-fi and are okay with storylines that span multiple generations, I would recommend the shit out of Foundation.
It's all just really cool, I think.
...I could be completely wrong though.
News from Brandon Sanderson's blog! http://www.brandonsanderson.com/blog...ok-to-work-on.

yesssssss.
More magic cowboys.
Never enough magic cowboys.
I had some problems with the way Sanderson wrote The Gathering Storm, so I haven't finished it yet.
God this makes me want to finish WoT. It's probably my favorite book series ever.
Stormlight. Must have more Stormlight. God, I love that series.
I have the first one on kindle.
ive had it for almost a year now.
just never got around to reading the damn thing.
edit: Stormlight is a full-course meal at a restaurant. You gotta take time to prepare before eating it.
Alloy meanwhile is one of those nice relaxed breakfasts you can get, finish in 10 minutes and go.
okay maybe i just want some breakfast food.
I have a friend who REALLY wanted me to read Wheel of Time.
It seemed a bit too... imposing to get into.
I never was into fantasy or sword fights, or other stuff like that. Pretty much I am into Harry Potter, and Science Fiction.

That depends. Wheel of Time really is not for everyone. Actually, theres surprisingly few people who seem to truly appreciate it. But, far as i know, those who do are pretty much loyalists for life.
I dont know how you can call a book series imposing, though. Sure, theres a lot of books. So? It'll just take longer to read - all the more enjoyment. Anyone with the patience to read Homestuck should agree with that.
I really should see about getting a new signature.
