There's so many great songs which have already been transcribed, which makes me feel a little greedy for asking this, BUT.
Having sheet music for Do The Windy Thing would be absolutely awesome. If there's anyone that can make such a thing happen, please do so... please?
Although to be honest, I'm all over any and all piano sheets that turn up on this thread. That's just a song which I would particularly love to have sheet music for, if that's possible.

I am currently transcribing Green Ghost for piano, if anyone wants it. I am strapped for time though, so don't expect it anytime soon. I'm estimating at least 2-3 weeks 2 or more months before it's finished.

Oh hey so it turns out black hole/green sun is a bonus track to album 8 and I've had no business in this winner's circle.

Anyway, one thing that I find really interesting about this thread is how few of these songs have complete sheet music from the authors. I can't even write music or see the intervals I'm trying to create on a piano roll, so all the songs I've written have had the melody, any countermelodies, bassline etc before I transported them from a sheet music based editor to FL studio.

Is being able to write straight to a piano roll something that just always comes with experience?

Not that everyone does this, but the fastest way to get a composition from your head into the computer is to just play it, with the “record” button activated (of course, the preferred way to do this so that it’s tweakable and can be turned into sheets more readily is with a MIDI interface, unless you are outright recording a real instrument). Doing it a note at a time with a mouse takes ridiculously long. Doing proper sheets with everything marked nicely is definitely not a necessary step for making music, and it is often faster and easier to just omit this step (or leave it to the experts).

What I’m getting at is that the original composers don’t typically have sheets because they’re often too busy doing it the easy way, not worrying about notation. Making sheet music is extra effort; sometimes a lot of extra effort.

So... maybe this is a bit of a roundabout answer to your question, but I hope it was enlightening as to the how and why.

But to answer directly, yeah you can learn piano roll just like you can learn traditional notation, like how to eyeball intervals and stuff. As a personal opinion, I think each one’s better for different things. Traditional notation is good for traditional compositional concerns because it’s symbolic and more compact; piano roll is good for getting an look at timing and impact because everything is spaced exactly how it’s going to go down.
