Alright, I've toyed round for too long now, I'll just check the footage, see who it was, bada-bing-bada-boom, job done.

Yep, seems like a totally normal cam-wait a minute...I-is something stuck on it?

    Yay!

take the picture off the camera, and examine the metal grate that locks the door.

    Re: Paper Detective

    > Ask Mr Lakeson the following questions: Had the grate been triggered when he arrived on the scene of the crime? Is he the only one currently in the building? Do any other of the museum employees have a key to the exhibit? Does anyone on the museum staff has short white hair? Does he have a guard posted in this room during public hours? If yes then ask who the guard is and if you can talk to them. If not ask to see footage of the room during public hours for the last couple of days. In fact do this anyway. The guard might not be reliable.

    > Examine the central display. Has it been clumsily smashed, sliced through expertly or just unlocked? Was the alarm disabled or had it not been set off? Check if the fire alarm connected to the fire door might have been disabled. Examine the splatter for any partial footprints or fingerprints.

    > Make a note to check the criminal records of all museum employees with your contact at the police office. You're specifically looking for anyone with a background in thievery, obviously, or fencing stolen goods. Make a note to hit the streets later and talk to your informants whether anyone has been trying to sell a sword. Make a note to do some research on the Sword of Kings. Though profit is a fine motive maybe the thief wanted it for other reasons.

    > Ask Mr Lakeson if he has a camera. You want to take a photograph of that splatter. An expert may be able to learn something from how it has spread.

A lot of commands I know but you have to be thorough with these things.

with that Lakeson, goes off, probably to a janitors office or summat like that. I'll check the grates, see how the thief, or thieves got in.

The grate moves up and down suprisingly quietly, the thing looks pretty decrepid, i figured it would make some huge noise. Upon closer inspection the grate is locked by some of bolt lock. Its broken beyond use now.

    "Here you go Mr Sleafe."

Lakeson back with a cheap wooden ladder. Figures.

Well time to see what this is all about.

    "Heh. Clever."

A polaroid. The exact angle of the video camera and all. Whoever did this wasn't some run of the mill thug. They were smart.

    > Assume that the thief(s) had access to the camera's feed, otherwise they would be unable to get a picture form the correct angle for the picture to be believable, without being caught by the camera in the process.

    Re: Paper Detective

It would have been funny if the theif(s) put it on upside down.

This reminds me of that Mission Impossible Episode where they do pretty much the exact same thing, except instead of putting a still picture into from of the camera, they put a screen in front, with movie projector projecting some film footage of the prisoner (a jail cell secuirty camera) moving around so that no one would notice the prisoner being broken out of jail.

neither this nor the movie exsample should work. it would be very close to the screen and therefore out of foucus.

    Wow Paper detective updated!

    > Ask Susan Quielter why she just tried to kill you, being as suave as possible.

EDIT: wait, no that's the opposite... that would be suspending my belief of the truth, and believing what is untrue ..

    Re: Paper Detective

Alright...fingerprints would be my best bet, can't really tell for them at the moment. Man I should of brought more stuff. Even them I'm no forensic scientist. Looks like Im gonna have to take a trip to the lab. Mort will know what to do.

Well i've delayed this for long enough, time to try and glean some info from this guy.

"Alright. Lakeson was it? I need to ask you some questions. Just answer them best you can ok?"

    "I-eh. Yeah ok."

"Right. Was this barrier up when you got to the scene?"
"Er- no. But it wasn't locked, the lock was broke."
"Are you the only one in the building right now?"
"Right now? No...The chief guard is here...I sent everyone else home."
"Does anyone have keys to this exhibit?"
    "Me. And the chief guard."
"Ah heh. Does any of your employees have short white hair?"
"Err...Paxman does. He's the janitor, real old guy."
"Does anyone guard this room during public hours."
"umm...yeah, we have a rotor, the guard changes every hour or two.
"Can I "see the footage for this camera?"
"You'll have to see the Chief guard for that...he'll be in the surveilance room."
"Last question. You wouldn't happen to have a camera on you?"
    "errm...s-sorry...no."

Alright I'm done with this guy, he's obviously anxious to leave. I could probably ask more questions in the morning.

    "Go home Lakeson."
    "B-but what about-"
"Don't worry. I'll find out who did this. Trust me, i've never failed a case."

With that Lakeson scampers off, yeah...that was a blatent lie I told, never failed a case. Ha! I'll be god damn lucky to solve this.

Anyway. I'll take a look at that centre piece again.

Why do I get the sneaking suspicion that this is blood? Anyway, the glass case is intact, so it wasn't smashed, it just looks like its been unlocked or something. Lockpicks maybe? I check the alarm system, a pressure based system, probably activates when the glass is smashed or pushed on too much. Anyone gentle enough could bypass it.

The fire exit seems untouched, In all honesty I darn't open it in case it sets off the alarm, there appears to be a small wire connecting to the fire alarm system, so it seems safe to rule it out.

Right. I should check with that security chief guy, try asking hims some stuff. I also really should get to the Labs, but I know they'll be closed for now. Most crucially I should really get back to the office. I need some shut eye...
