Linked list and Queue/Stack are not the same thing.

A stack is done by using a pointer that holds the address of some area in memory. When you push something to the stack the pointer increments to the next 1/2/4/8 bytes of memory. You can pull something out of the stack which decrements the pointer.

A linked list uses structs (a data type that contains other data types) and lets you grab any entry from it by searching and comparing.

It's not easy to understand unless you have learned about it. (even then heaps of people failed in my C++ class)

Stacks and queues are abstract data types. They can be implemented by linked lists, and commonly are in most libraries. What you describe is how the _call_ stack is typically implemented in a system architecture, but if you create a stack _object_ within your program, for instance with the C++ STL, you're not just allocating a single block of RAM and aiming a pointer into it, there's going to be some data structure involved, most likely a linked list.
