-1812: Americans try to take over Canada but turn back due to instant snowstorms past the 49* parallel.
-1844: The first naturally liquid lake is discovered in Canada and named "Lake Superior".
-1867: Canada becomes a country.
-1903: The Canadian Government obtains its first legitimately bought land from the Native Peoples.
-1950: Margaret Atwood, Terry Fox and Sanford Fleming discover the route to the pacific ocean through Canada.
-1996: Prime Minister Emily Carr announces her plan for installing telephone lines.
-2008: Stephen Harper wears a sweater vest.
