Re: Completed Forum Adventures Table of Contents

YOU CAN HELP, TOO! If your adventure or an adventure you want to be up here isn't up here, you can help by posting or PMing The Bern Donut Co or one of the people listed in the footnote of the Table of Contents!

Here's what's needed for an entry:
-- A 125x125 pixel image of said adventure that accurately represents the artists style and/or some important character or part of the plot.
    -- The title, and author
-- How many pages the adventure was (without the chatter after the ending)
-- A short, one to two sentence summary of the adventure
    and optional:
--If there is a mirror, a link to it
-- If it has won any MSPAFA awards, list which one it has won[/size]

Or to maximize your boondollars, follow the following template. Anything in caps and surrounded by dollar signs is something you should replace with the applicable data.

    Code:
    [img]$$125x125THUMBNAIL$$[/img] [b$][$$url=$$ADDRESS OF FIRST PAGE OF ADVENTURE$$]$$NAME OF ADVENTURE$$[/url] by $$AUTHOR'S NAME$$ [/b]($$ # OF PAGES $$ pgs)
    [$size=1]$$A BRIEF DESCRIPTION$$
    [$color=#8080BF] Won Award(s) for $$NAME(S) OF AWARD(S) WON$$ at the $$DATE OF AWARDS CEREMONY$$ MSPAFA Awards [/size]
    Code:

That produces something like this: [/color]
In Utero by Donny Dumbshit (12 pgs) | Mirror
A young man, trapped inside a mechanical womb of mysterious origins, must work for his passage out by performing random tasks asked by the uterus's idiosyncratic citizens.
Won award for "Best Bodily Fluids" at the Spring 2010 MSPAFA Awards
    [/size]

Remember, you can do grunt work too! As for me, I'm going to go get drunk and drive dangerously around steep sea cliffs!

    Sincerely,

Idea: Have the list three times (each spoilered), sorted differently.
    By most recent completion date
By number of pages (at time of completion)
    Alphabetically

It'd be a bit more work, but I'd be willing to help. Would I be correct in assuming the page numbers you're listing now don't count pages of comments after the end?

Ooh, and you should maybe even try a fourth list (if there's even room in the two posts) where adventures are sorted by a ranking that people vote on. Although that could get messy.

Keep in mind that over all else, I want to keep this table of contents streamlined and as simple (or non-confusing) as possible. I want the people to click on this topic and immediately be shown the table of contents, not having to decide which way they want it to be sorted in.

I don't think that "recent completion date" would be necessary, because the forum is basically already sorted into that: last replied to topics are typically the most recently finished ones. Though I will go through these all now and include "date of completion," because that's a good idea.

And by number of pages--I don't believe that's too big of a deal to most people that it would need a separate table of contents. Perhaps in the second post we could just list them all for reference, as in:
Here is a list of all the adventures above in order from most pages to least pages.

But I don't want things to get complicated.

It'd be a bit more work, but I'd be willing to help. Would I be correct in assuming the page numbers you're listing now don't count pages of comments after the end?
No, it's just the number of pages of the topic itself. Discussion is part of the thread, too. I am aware that this opens the page count up to being wrong over time. I am also aware that this is just a lazy way to do it. Whoops.

Ooh, and you should maybe even try a fourth list (if there's even room in the two posts) where adventures are sorted by a ranking that people vote on. Although that could get messy.
Ahhhhhh no that would turn out awfully! This is supposed to be an objective list. (Despite some of the descriptions having some sarcastic subjectivity shining through.)

I'm sending you a PM so you could collaborate on this too, if you wanted to.

EDIT: Wait, whoops I just accidentally deleted this post, thinking it was a PM! Luckily I copy+pasted it so it could be saved for generations.

Also Stephen is now part of the Dream Team! i call shaq's position.

UNDER CONSTRUCTION. UNDER CONSTRUCTION. UNDER CONSTRUCTION.

    AH.

It takes time. Also Eversist, which ones are you going to be doing? I've read Prague and Uninteresting Adventure, Overtime, Another Day, Risk, Panopoly, The Labyrinth Field, Silence, Boobslave and God's Blobby Must Archipelago out of all the ones that still need to be done, so I could do any of those easily.

    EDIT: 12/20 I DID THESE

Re: Completed Forum Adventures Table of Contents

All the ones I didn't just list are the ones I haven't read.

So that means the following I have not read. I don't expect you to do them all; I don't mind reading more.
    Careers in Religion
    CYOA 1 & 2
    murder mystery manor
    The Two
    Ultradude W
TWIN DUEL: The Twin Towers Of Lay'Fee (oh god do we have to do all the duels)
When Worlds Collide - A Fanventure, if anything
    The Tragic Tale of Thriggle
    Mime's Journey
    Dungeon Denizens
    Entitled to Change
    Create Your Character
Abdutcted (I'm not sure how to do a thumbnail for a text adventure... maybe just a quick, self-made doodle of a UFO (or whatever relates to the adventure at hand) and the word TEXT placed over it to signify that it's a textventure?)
The Family: Only Two Can Remain
    The Mutewood II
    Bob Must Die
    CheeseDeluxeIRL
    Emoticon Adventure, Part One
    A Matter of Magic
    Joy Ride
    SLUGVENTURE YEAH
    Assassin's Quest
    Escape from the Labyrinth
    Universal Elder
    Homeless Serial Killer (text)
    AdventureR(PG) Quest... Thing
    Kick Something in the Nuts!
    Vampires!
Lock and Key: the MSPA Way! (text)
Yet Another but In-A-Computer MSPA Forum Adventure
    Desktop MSPA
    DEUS
    not-an-adventure adventure. (text)
    Name Quest
    Space Quest I
The Pointless Adventures of Nopor Puss! (text)

AND THAT IS THE LIST OF THINGS I HAVEN'T READ.

    Additional Notes:
    1. Crystal rave part one is in the completed subforum, but the story itself is not done so it won't be listed until completion.
    2. Threads that are just transcripts of IRC chats shouldn't be included because it's more of a "you had to be there" sort of thing, where magic was in the air at the time, but reading it now, it is not; and the spirit gone, man is trash. That was snowden's secret.
    3. For the Completed Something a Little Different Adventures, I don't think there should be a thumbnail, but rather a special section at the bottom of the table of contents with a link and a description since that is already an archive in itself.

Everyone, check out this announcement in the second post!
It has details on how YOU can help me do my job, and help me get paid for doing nothing!
Wait, I'm not getting paid for this?

Okay, well, I'll have to get corporate to invent some new kind of congratulatory donuts, so that I can give donut coupons to those who help out the most in the war effort! I'll bleed those suckers dry for leaving me here to rot at my desk at two in the morning! Just who do they think they are?

So help me get back at the man while knocking back a few donuts for yourself!

    (Thanks for the help.)

    Groovy.

    Edit:
Out of that list, I've only read CYOA I/II. So I guess I'll start at the top and work my way down.

I am not sure, I think from now on I'm only going to move duels into here if someone actually wins, and leave the abandoned ones to sink.

I just did the ones I've read; if you want yours done, take one of the following routes

    1) make the entry following the template in this post and pm it to me or Bern Donut account
    2) if this is not possible, talk to eversist whose idea this was if you want it done proper
    3) if you don't feel like doing that, wait until your turn comes around it because it's not like I'm getting paid to read everyone's adventures and also its not like I'd rather be doing anything else besides than this tedious volunteer bureaucracy
