In Their Native Art Style

So, I thought I'd have a go at running an adventure. The tone is mostly serious; the genre is some kind of sci-fi. The "art" is schematic, the idea being that it is the normal style of drawing for the protagonist's culture. I am dumping readers in at the deep end somewhat; figuring out what this place is like is part of the puzzle I guess. BTW, you can ask the protagonist questions as well as giving commands, though I can't guarantee a useful response.



Your name is Tkhlpzyv. You are a citizen compiled from a rather conservative codebase. Your job is to locate and retrieve feral individuals so that others can study the effects of isolation or unusual upbringing on their minds, to bring new concepts into the long-term planning of the species-engineering team.

You have just ended a period of rest and maintenance, and turned off your bed. You must now prepare to head from your room in Su-0-0, to Su-4-7, where your next subject is.

In slow progress is a tidy-up. Formatting got broken during the Forapocalypse and some is still not fixed, and images have rotted, so if you spot anything broken do PM the author. (The first 5 pages should have been done now at least.)

so i got hold of some pipe cleaners and this art style is easier than most others to represent IRL with these things



Our old friend Tk. Pictures of Jz and Unidentified (Shewson) will be forthcoming, once I figure out how not to poke my fingers too much with those little sharp ends. Also once I figure out a better background to take these pictures against (I expect my jeans are a pretty stupid background to use).

Of course you have a tail! However else would you balance when on two legs?

You cannot rotate yourself in 5-dimensional space! Also, Su-4-7 is only slightly over 8 nanometres away, so there is not enough room for your several metres of length to fit between the subuniverses.

You recall the meta-cosmology you studied years ago. The multiverse has an approximately-Euclidean 5D space, which is the cross-product of the 3 dimensions along which each parallel subuniverse extends ("x", "y", and "z") and the 2 dimensions that separate them ("u" and "v").

That is some food. You ought to consume some of it soon; you are low in energy.

The Linear Small-Body Accelerator has a tube surrounded with sploiters, powered by a large capacitor, which is charged by the attached power-pack. It can accelerate an object small enough to fit in the barrel to several kilometres/sec. The aim is best when using shaped slugs of metal.

If you were to fire it down at the bed at maximum energy, it would make a hole in it (rendering it inoperative), the shrapnel would somewhat damage the wall, and the recoil would knock you back a bit.

But that would be expensive, dangerous, and of zero utility. You decide not to try it.

You swallow it. You expect it to fulfil your nutritional requirements for the rest of the day.

You cannot pick up the pattern-slices, they are net-ambient and do not have a spacial position! Before you rested, you were working on them with your apprentice.

You disperceive them until you next need to work on them, so they don't clutter your perspective-set (and the story's illustrations).

Also, you are beginning to properly taste the food now; it has plenty of calories.

You will be within civilisation until you depart the base in Su-4-7. You can carry some food with you from there, but you might have to do some hunting or stealing from hunters native to there.
