    I don't understand your feelings.

Also, did you guys know that you can pop your popcorn with a frying pan? (plus something to cover it)

Unless you do weird things to it, then you probably still can but it might or might not ruin the pan.

I just want to leave this here as a memorial to my favorite restaurant that closed possibly forever (although it's a chain so I could always find another, but it would probably be farther away then the one i liked already was)

i love taking pictures of food, but anything I personally cook just looks...not photogenic.

okay so this was really amazing and tasty and simple; I'm calling it "bachelor chow" because it's handy to eat on the go. the only hard part is the first part:

1.) take a shallot. Mince and sautee in olive oil; set aside.
2.) mix up egg salad with some cilantro, salt, black pepper, and lime juice. Set aside.
3.) warm up 3 corn tortillas with a little bit of olive oil (and some salt if you'd like). As you finish them, spoon in the cilantro + egg salad mix, top with some shallot, drizzle cholula hot sauce on top of that, and devour.

    (oh also hi guys)

I just realized, why the fuck is this thread in the sticky area?

Also, I just ate some nice fish and some potatoes.

I think the joke is that the chat thread always is a food thread.

I think the joke is that food is awesome and y'all should pay more attention to it and the making thereof!

Also that the chat thread is always filled with discussions on food.

    That too.

Re: The Tony Curtis Memorial Food Thread.

Whoa hey a food thread. This might come in handy for a poor apartment-dweller such as I.

I can make a mean stirfry, but that's about it.

    - mini corn
    - water chestnuts
    - bean sprouts
    - beef (you could use chicken I guess)
    - broccoli
    - onion
    - Teriyaki sauce
    - Soy sauce

You can put whatever you want really, this is just what I like.

Chuck the meat into a big frying pan/skillet and cook it for a while, then toss in the rest of your ingredients. Throw in as much sauce as you want (I use the teriyaki to flavor it and sort of thin it out with soy sauce). Mix it a lot with some kind of kitchen implement (spatula works fine).

I'm a sucky cook usually, but this is pretty easy.

NAP: do you use a wok or just a skillet? I've wanted to do stir-fry but my skillets aren't really large enough, and my large sautee pan has high edges that make it impossible to stir-fry anything.

Re: The Tony Curtis Memorial Food Thread.

I think it might be a wok, but I've also used a really big frying pan and it worked just as well (apart from my oven getting sauce and whatnot all over it :P)
Even if you have a giant heaping pile of ingredients in it it usually turns out ok if you shuffle it around a lot. As long as you make sure the meat's cooked, I mean. It's hard to overcook stirfry though.

    I hope that helps?

This should be sticky based purely on the fact that food is delicious and therefore talk about food should also be delicious.

I need some recipes for some low calorie dips and maybe some delicious new pasta sauces. Any suggestions?

    If you did them, share!

If you need them, be more careful with your words!

As far as pasta sauce, you can't get much better (or simpler) than This simple sauce.

Ah stupid typo yes I meant to type need though I thought that was pretty obvious but thanks for letting me know.

Bluh, that's so plain I mean I've been that same kinda sauce quite a few times I suppose I need to find something more creative.

Wait, I'm afraid I'm missing something here. Does this mean you're breading the shells of the mussels? What purpose does that serve? Why use mussels from a can instead of fresh? Do unshelled mussels actually come in cans? What are we going to do tomorrow night, Brain?

I learned something really important today:

Ciabatta bread makes terrible sandwich bread. Just fucking awful. Way too hard and chewy. Don't use it.

No, you can't bread a mussel shell and eat it. Because unshelling mussels to get the meat out to cook the meat is annoying. Yes. The same thing we do every night Pinky, try to take over the world.

My mom brought home Ocean Spray CRAN-ENERGY juice from the store and I'm drinking it and it's okay but I think it'd be better if it were called CRANERGY.

But I always want to splice words.

Re: The Fait Memorial Food Thread.

The best place I have ever eaten at was a sports bar called Wild Wing.

I am at a loss for words it is just too hard to describe the glory. The wings are fried to perfection. It's fries, whilst being the best fries I have ever eaten, still paled in comparison to the wings, which were so good that when I went back to eat a second time, I forgot how much I loved their fries. Their desserts. Oh god, their desserts.

The desserts are just slightly above average, actually. Still, though, they are amazing.

I can't wait to be of legal drinking age so that I can get alcohol there as well and bring friends and hang out and stuff.

Ah, Varkarrus, you must mean Buffalo Wild Wings! I agree that they have the best wings, boneless or with bone, out of any other place I have ever had them. Some of their sauces are too spicy but the Asian Zing is THE EPITOME OF GODDAMN TASTE.
