So we've got Gypsum, the fire-type kinda tomboyish one...
Anais, the Grass-type nice-seeming one...
And Opal, the Water-type faintly intellectual-seeming one.

Hmmmm.
You know, normally I tend to go for the nice girls, but you did the tomboy in a way I like... I'll go Fire. Plus that little fire lion is cool.

Do consider that in most Pokemon games the rival always has the Pokemon with the elemental advantage over yours... so assuming the tomboy has the fire type we would need grass to get her as a reoccurring rival. So in that case the smart thing to do would be:

Choose water. If the tomboy has fire lord it over her that you have the superior element, she needs to be taken down a peg anyway.

If this analysis is correct, I'd go with fire. Hot-blooded ally and intelligent rival sounds like an interesting combination. But where does that leave the sweet grass girl?
