Welcome to the universe, Äxoti Oryat Yka. You were born to L'jeru and Azka Yka, both their first daughter and first child.
A moderately privileged family, yours was able to provide you with a fairly typical youth. You spent your early years riding, exploring, and learning about the world around you. Lush and populated by a species that reproduces on the order of centuries, Otrini is full of wide open spaces and fascinating wildlife, and the skills you learned as a spawn stuck with you all your life. Hardly an expert, you've got something of a way with animals.
Given their tiny population and advanced technology, Jeijï have very few educators except for specialist fields. Adolescents are essentially given free reign to study what interests them: given the ubiquitousness of computers, you have at least rudimentary skill with programming and computer operation; it would be hard to live on Otrini without such skills. Aside from that, spent a few years fascinated with spacecraft design and maintenance, and another few dabbling in social sciences. These might just have been fleeting interests, or maybe they'll end up as lifelong passions.
Either way, time marched on, and your childhood had to come to an end. You never really settled on anything for most of your life, but finally at your Inumsi-Qogti, your adulthood ceremony, you had a crystallizing moment: you were a real member of Jeijan society now; you had to do something with your life other than drift aimlessly. The ceremonial mantle-clip and the gazes of half of your species weigh heavily on you, and you decide to settle on a path here and now.
But what should you do? Join the army? Sign up for the Governance navy or marines? Train to be a psion? A scientist? A merchant? A thug? A colonist, spy, or artist? Maybe go into government or diplomacy? The possibilities are practically endless.
Agree with the first part, but not sure on the second.Originally Posted by Fakeimposter

Become an interplanetary playgirl and explorer extraordinaire.

Train to be a biologist (Xeno or otherwise) and learn how to make your species more abundant.
Become a colonist, that's sure to be a good idea.
Join a ragtag band of mixed explorers, searching for new planets and new sapient life. Your skills in mechanics will surely be useful in dealing with the countless abuses an exploring ship will face. Plus if we meet anything else that uses those funny squelching clicks as a part of their language, we can make ourselves useful, y'know?
Become a scientist, specializing in the study of high-intelligence non-sapient species and how they can be "Uplifted" into sapience through genetic and psionic manipulation.

Never say you have to do it.
Instead, say you want to do it.
Colonist (1st choice); Government (y'know, the Senetory stuff if there is one) (2nd choice); Scientist (3rd choice).
Psion training!
Do you like Magic: the Gathering? Got ideas for MSPA-inspired cards? Post them here!
Sigspoiler of spoilsigging:
Fanfic:
Become a mechanic/engineer. Work aboard an exploratory vessel. Say the same thing others have already said, but differently.

But guys... Psion training gives you super powers! Imagine the DESTRUCTION and MAYHEM we could cause!
Become a mechanic/engineer and learn psionics. Multiclass!
>I take back my governance psion suggestion. It occurs to me that putting your life at risk is needlessly selfish when your species numbers in the hundreds. I suggest a top-notch scientist, physician or technician.

I was going to update tonight, but depending on how I interpret some of these suggestions, it's either a nasty multi-way tie or a very close race. I'm going to put up a poll containing some of the more popular choices and update tomorrow evening based on that.
I will also respond to a post I totally forgot to last time around:
Jeijan limbs are strong enough to function normally in up to 1.1 times Terre gravity, with a little effort. Most that leave Otrini undergo strength training, but cybernetic implants aren't necessary for most purposes so remain rare.Originally Posted by Akumu
