    Songs we sing

This person sitting here on a rock is an Orator.

Orators are odd folk who are primarily armed with fables and epics of generations long past. When a rumor dies away as the people who told it no longer care for it, the Orators remember it word for word. When a book becomes dusty, crumbly and finally disintegrates into nothing, the Orators remember its contents from the preamble to the postscript. When the stones that ancient hieroglyphs are written on erode away under the harsh wind and water, the Orators remember the exact depth of every engraved letter. The most trustworthy Orators carry even more spectacular secrets of dead Gods, being able to orchestrate ancient spells thought to be only legends.

This particular Orator though has run into a fair amount of trouble.

It seems a deity of considerable power and prestige has accused her of spreading foul rumors about him and his brethren. She can't seem to recount doing such a thing but she's been known to have lapses in memory during particularly extravagant nights at the tavern. Despite her best pleas of innocence, he has taken the liberty of disarming her, taking her voice along with the magic it held within it and finally attempted to steal her most prized possession: Her memory. Fortunately, though, an Orator's memory is so vast that amnesia was only able to effect a relatively small chunk of her memory containing millions of stories passed down through her family for years. Unfortunately, the chunk of her memory that was erased was filled with important facts like her own name. A rival deity saw her despair and decided to aid her in her quest to regain her possessions with the only catch being that she had to destroy the deity who had wronged her.

    Sounds reasonable.

To aid her in her quest, she was gifted a group of inter-planar beings (You) to aid her in her decision-making. The deity mentioned something about a "forum" and "comic" though these words didn't hold any meaning to our hero and she just took these words to mean something positive. That poor poor misguided Orator.

At the present time she's freshly been squeezed out of a dimensional hole onto a rock, which is supposedly close to her first objective: Her voice. It seems she's beckoning you all for a name so you all can obtain a more cordial acquaintanceship.

    What shall her name be?

The protagonist wishes to remind you that she suffers from amnesia, not DUMBnesia!

Is... this is incredibly rude and I'm sorry but, is that your nose or your mouth?

    Floria Dowson?

...wait, that's a guess, not a decision. Well, use it if you like it, I guess...

To be perfectly honest, the origin of her hat is one of the personal memories that she preserved and the story is: That it has no story!

She loves this hat because the mysteries of it's origin always elude her no matter how many books she reads or how many Orators she asks. The fix hat shall probably remain an enigma evermore.

Why all these inter-planar beings keep suggesting two names instead of just one confuddles our protagonist to the un-teenth degree of confuddlement. Why would one need two names? Maybe they fear one of their names breaking so they require a back-up name?

She rather enjoys the possibility of two names that can be combined into one and will give this exotic way of identification a spin.

Sonnet is a young lass who's hobbies include traveling, tavern-hopping and fishing. These are the only details of her life that she can recall at the moment and everything else in her memory is just jumbled factoids. Like, did you know that this particular type of stone is popular for building the corner-stones of castles with? That's right, that's the only thing it's used for in construction. This tradition started when king- whoops, you inter-planar beings don't want to hear about rocks do you?

Well anyways, she greets you all and gets a good footing on the boulder as she awaits the next plan of action.

I, a spectator, suspect you're tangled up in a plan made by the second god to defame and destroy the first; he was the one who set up the rumors in the first place...

This thing? This is the mark of Yawn, the God of dreams who aided Sonnet and sent her on this quest to defeat Absolute, the God of the sunrise. Perhaps this is a mark left by the violent energies involved with opening a hole in the fabric of reality... Or the more likely reason that Yawn wanted to tag Absolute's turf to piss him off.

Deities like to mess with each other infinitely more than they like to mess with mortals.

Sonnet can feel a vague sense of resentment towards the shenanigans of deities but it's probably lingering hostility towards Absolute for all the trouble he's already put her through.

What is the extent of your current communication with us? Do you know any valid ways one should obtain a voice in this world?

I'll take this moment to answer a few questions without having to create more panels because I have a few stock ones and I was creating a few new ones but I'm starting to get an incredible headache that's starting to impede my doodling powers~

That's a nose on her mask, yes.

Assume everything said after a > by anyone is like a voice in her head.

Her communication to you all isn't very hindered since she can portray her thoughts and feelings to you through the narration.

She thanks you for reminding her of her handicap and reminds you in turn that her arms are probably in a much more tangible fortress than her memories.

I think I know what's up. When the sun rises, dreams end. If Absolute dies, then the sun will never rise again, causing mankind to remain dreaming forever, allowing Yawn to acquire a permanent dominance over this land...
