Okay for some reason this seriously cracked me up.
Summer (or whatever I'm supposed to call you, stop changing your name aagh), you better be posting some of this stuff you're doing on dA. What's the point of stalking you if there's nothing there to stalk?
Art dump! (Crossposted from dA, but with slightly less bluh-bluhing)
From tender years you took me for granted
But still I deign to wander through your lungs
While you were sleeping soundly in your bed,
(Your drapes were silver wings, your shutters flung)
I drew the poison from the summer's sting,
And eased the fire out of your fevered skin.
I moved in you and stirred your soul to sing;
And if you'd let me I would move again.
I've danced 'tween sunlit strands of lover's hair;
Helped form the final words before your death.
I've pitied you and plied your sails with air;
Gave blessing when you rose upon my breath.
And after all of this I am amazed,
That I am cursed far more than I am praised.

(AKA: Giving credit where credit is due, lyrics belong to Thrice and all that yammering)
Shit this isn't very airy now that I look at it but oh well.
This was supposed to be the third part of the Alchemy series, but I'm having creative constipation with fire/Dave, and I still have no idea what to do for earth/Jade. All I know is that fire is being used for war in Flame Deluge so I want to go in the direction of the battle between Prospit and Derse, and that Jade's is about death... so... uh... dirt? I have a very vague idea of what to do, but the constipation there remains as well. :|
Now that I look at it, this can be pretty airy. And the way I colored makes it look like (to me, at least) Eric Carle's The Very Hungry Caterpillar. I think sometime during the production of this I wanted it to have some sort of innocent feel to it, and must have subconsciously linked it to that book. Or at the very least to some sort of children's storybook. End result: it was very satisfying.
The lesson you'd do well not to forget
Your life could be the one it's wisdom saves
At sea, where you're beleaguered and beset
On every side by strife of wind and waves
Despite the best of maps and the bravest men
For all their mighty names and massive forms
There'll never be, there has never been
A ship or fleet secure against the storms
When kings upon the main have clung to pride
And held themselves as masters of the sea
I've held them down beneath the crushing tide
Till they have learned that no one masters me
But grace can still be found within the gale
With fear and reverence, raise your ragged sail

If you notice, there are holes in that little boat there, and fighting with a Cthuhlu abomination. But yeah, once I started I just couldn't stop. Kind of like that slogan from that one snack-based product.
I originally thought to do all the alchemy pieces on actual pieces of paper and copy that pen and ink style from the 1500-1700 nautical years, (See also: avatar) but the idea fizzled fast. I would want to do something like that one day, but I think I'm still way too inexperienced to attempt right now.
I'm classy as fuck.
No transparency because you don't deserve it. B|
But yeah. Back when I was about... Dave Strider's age, I got my mitts on a little folded flyer for a GameCrazy, and in the section that was advertising the Dreamcast and related games was Jet Grind Radio. My reaction to that cover? soooo coooooool
Fast forward to last month. I downloaded the soundtrack for the sequel, and begin to notice that this would be the kind of stuff Dave would listen to. In secret. Because he's just that cool.
So tonight, I took a drawing of Beat and traced over it lol i am gud artist
But really. I made some adjustments, and I just like the pose too much. It reminds me of the days when I would look at that art in awe (this was back when cel shading was considered cutting edge and/or eye candy), so yeah. Put that in where the original did not.
I really, really want to play this game now, dear God.
Dave would totally be a rudie for ironic purposes. Aged up because I felt like it.
Also, quick note: lyrics were originally intended to be in art, but it just got in the way and clashed too much with the colors so I got rid of them and will simply put them in comments instead.
