    Art of Domination

Welcome to the Warlink, Commander. Our forces are ready to begin.

Please select where we should make our first strike. Regions have been marked with numbers for convenience.

    1= Most technologically advanced.
2= Has the most nuclear weapons.
3= Has the most useful natural resources.
4= Economic powerhouse of the planet.
    5= Most populous.

You: Shut up, adjutant. I am not that old.

    > Let's conquer some sweet natural resources
You: Mobilize our forces to attack Region Three. We must secure that zone if we want to end this quickly.

Adjutant: As you say, Commander. Attention ground forces, attention ground forces: Region Three is a go. Region Three is a go. This is not a drill. Secure settlements and await further orders.

You are the Commanding Officer of the 1st Arm of the Saramis Alliance. History will remember you for this invasion and so it is only right that we would have your name on record.

    What is your name, Commander?

You have been called to defeat the armed forces of Planet 117 and destroy their ruling government with the only regiment the Saramis Alliance can spare.

    Inspect Adjutant
Sitting in front of you is your Adjutant, Ghulls Maranis. He is responsible for relaying your orders to any unit under your command. He is also authorized to offer advice on strategic matters and serves as your ship's navigator as well.

He also happens to be your cousin, but you prefer to call him by his title while on duty, and he calls you 'Commander' all the time because he likes saying it.

You: Give me a status report.

Ghulls: Commander, all 5000 of our troops are entering Planet 117's atmosphere. They are encountering heavy anti-air resistance from SAM sites on Regions One and Three, but there are no reports of shield failures. Our ship's cannons are functional and will be ready to provide aerial bombardment when our units call in for support.

You: Adjutant, what's the situation on Region 2? Do we need to send strike teams to disable their nukes?

Ghulls: No sign of nuclear missiles taking off, Commander. They must be waiting for more of us to land before they launch; they know our ship's shields are too strong. They are, however, sending reinforcements to Region 3.

You: Get me in touch with Strike Ops 1.

    Ghulls: Connected to Captain Selev.

Captain Selev: Commander Vorador? What is it ma'am?

You: Change of orders. I want you and team 2 to try and sabotage the nukes in Region 2.

Captain Selev: Can we get aerial support?

Ghulls: Commander, if we move our ship to support the strike teams, we won't be able to help our fighters in Region 3. Most of our forces lack heavy weapons to deal with armored vehicles.

Captain Selev: With all due respect, Adjutant Ghulls, without the Enderfist's support it's not very likely we'll be able to reach more than three of the thirty nukes before R-2's defenses kick in and tear us apart. Remember, Commander, the Enderfist's cannons can't shoot missiles in mid-flight.

    What's your call?

    Re: Art of Domination

(I'm assuming Natural Resources includes forests, rivers, lakes, as well as mines and caves for minerals.)

    > Switch to guerrilla and hit-and-run tactics in Region 3. Issue orders to run from any heavy armor and have field engineers prepare Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) to help deal with enemy armor. Splinter your force of 5,000 into individual cells of 50 people each. Have these cells act independently of each other, but working on hitting as much of Region 3's infrastructure as possible. Set up an ETA/Signal that lets your force know when to reform after you return from helping Strike 1.

After issuing the above changes to orders for Region 3, quickly send Strike 1 into Region 2 to disable the nukes. Provide fire support on any major military installations you can find, with priorities being to aim for, in this order of priority, ground bases, supply lines, radar installations, airfields, (tele)-communications, and large troop deployments. Emphasis, despite it being obvious, that Strike 1 should attempt to avoid any of the larger bases/troop deployments until you are better able to provide fire support. Strike 1 should also emphasis stealth over firepower, bringing only the bare minimum of equipment, increasing their manueverability.

Finally, ask Adjutant Ghulls, for a scan of the planets atmospheric and orbital information. Determine if there are any Satellites (Communications or Military) that are within range of any fighters you might have on bored. If your vessel lacks fighters, determine if any satellites are in range of your weapon systems. If there are satellites in range and it will not effect your ability to aid Strike 1, take them out. If taking them out would hinder your ability to aid Strike 1 and later Assault 1 (in Region 3), leave them for now.

Edit: Oh, and get Adjutant Ghulls to give you a rundown of your troops, equipment, supplies, and things of that nature, or remember it yourself.

    Re: Art of Domination

I agree with most of this, with the sole exception of focus on capture of nukes instead of disability - considering we're from outer space, we have a distinct advantage that nobody on the ground's gonna want to be the first one to start flinging nukes, especially not at countries that they don't have a quarrel with, and much less at their own country - especially since we don't really seem like we're an "Independence Day"-level threat to them. But! If we take command of the largest cookpot of nuclear weapons on the planet, then suddenly we have bargaining chip - the others should be more keen to negotiate than fight.

The problem is holding on to these silos with a small strike team, while keeping their armed forces at bay. Disabling the nukes =/= destroying the nukes. It merely buys us time to conquer Region 3 and use it's resources to full a full invasion on Region 2, allowing us to take the nuclear stockpiles. Then we could reactivate the disabled nukes and with 2 Regions under control, containing both the most resources and the most nuclear weapons, the other Regions/Nations should be willing to succumb to our demands. With Region 3's resources and the nuclear deterrent might of Region 2, we will be able to withstand a war of attrition, as well as be able to retaliate against any strike with great speed and nuclear results.

You: Enderfist stays. We'll remain over Region 3.

    Ghulls: Thank you, Commande-

You: Re-direct Battalion 1 to support Captain Selev.

    Ghulls: What?

You: That is an order, Adjutant. The other battalions will do fine as long as they have Enderfist's cannons covering for them. Selev needs help.

Ghulls: If you say so, Commander. Attention Lieutenant Fadar; change of orders: Your battalion will be sent to Region 2. You are to assist Captain Selev in sabotaging their nukes. Provide a distraction and support fire to allow Captain Selev to slip in.

    Captain Selev: Thank you, Commander.

Ghulls: I hope you're making the right decision.

You ask Adjutant Ghulls for another brief on your units, as you realize that you've forgotten what exactly they're carrying into battle. Your cousin just shakes his head as he displays the following on your screen:

You have a regiment of 5,000 infantry under your command, divided into 5 battalions of 1,000 soldiers each.

    Riflemen -

Light armor, light shields. Armed with Alliance Standard Rifles, Model 384. Every squad has a marksman, armed with the Alliance Longmark 52. 900 Riflemen per battalion.

    Special Ops -

Light armor, no shields but equipped with cloaking devices. Armed with silenced Grimwhisper Rifles and demolition charges.

They do not count as part of the regiment; you have 40 of them under your command in two groups of 20.

    Cyber Warfare Specialists-

Light armor, light shields. Armed with Alliance Standard Handguns, Model 390. All CWS are able to intercept enemy communications and hack into automated defense systems. They can also hijack vehicles. 100 CWS per battalion.

    12 minutes later...

Your forces for Region 3 have landed and are encountering intense resistance. Their mission is to eliminate all enemy combatants and destroy all inter-planetary communications facilities. The ultimate goal of this campaign is to eliminate Planet 117's government, which refuses to surrender and answer for several crimes against your species.

Your ship Enderfist is providing support from orbit, but since the cannons are so powerful that you risk hitting unintended targets, you must approve all requests for Enderfist orbital strikes.

A call comes from one of the battalion leaders down below.

Lieutenant Malino: This is Battalion Adder, we are trying to reach the comms centre in the capital but we're pinned down by heavy machine-gun and mortar fire coming from the giant building right in front of us. Our marksmen have been taking pot shots but from the looks of things there are hundreds of 'em in there. We are requesting an Enderfist strike, I say again, Enderfist strike. Do you read?

Ghulls: Commander, the building he's talking about... that's a civilian hospital. It's the biggest one on the planet, in fact.

    You: Any sign of civilians?

Ghulls: Impossible to tell, Commander. Our scanners can't penetrate the thick walls.

Approve the orbital strike? Deny? Tell Malino to disengage?
