Tabletop RPGs are fun. I am well versed on the ways of GURPS, but sadly, me and my friends have such a conflicting schedules, that we can only play once every season. And last time, the players couldn't find their character sheets. So, I just create characters, powrers and similar things, and not being able to do anything with them.

And I must say, GURPS is tons of fun, since you can do anything in it. But that is the downside: you HAVE to do everything in it, since its actually a toolkit system. So the GM has a quite though job. Although helpful sourcebooks exist for virtually anything.

the problem with GURPS is that any setting you decide to use it for, chances are theres a much better system tailored for that setting. also its super fuckin clunky and complex, and if the solution is "well you can remove rules" then why not just play PDQ! pdq owns

also 3.5/pathfinder are so ridic bad

Well, I remember that in an other thread I told you that "well you can remove the rules", but actually I like the rules. Plus, I like to create my own settings. Also, cross-genre settings can be handled quite easily. You use the same rules for the Space Opera Warrior and the High Fantasy Wizard. And actually, GURPS has an official setting, which is an Infinity of Paralell Universes. So, it was actually designed for this.

I'm a little on the fence with GURPS between you two. On the one hand, I agree with Varinn. Generic systems are typically not too good unless they're rules lite because you can always find a better system for a setting. It's the exact same reason I cringe when people try to homebrew D&D for superheroes when Mutants and Masterminds exists. On the other hand, there are a few things that GURPs can do that a lot of systems can't, and if you want to make a team of cross-dimension travelers, it's really not bad for it. You certainly could do worse for universal systems. Although, I'm going to say that Risus for me gets the whole universal thing down perfectly. 1 minute character creation, 10 pages of rules, and yet it manages to cover every complexity and nuance you could ever want. Sure the games get a bit silly 90% of the time, but run right, you can just skip all the paperwork and confusion and just roll some D6's and have fun.

But GURPS really is a little too complex for its own good. Making custom NPC villains can take forever if you don't know the system in and out, and some of the rules are confusing.
