At least there was to him.

In his mind, walking was just walking. Trekking meant you had important stuff to do, and God help you if you got in this bad dude’s way.

But it even seemed hollow in his own mind. What was he doing? John thought he was a traitor, and the spiderwitch dribbling in his ear was probably not going to help. Terezi was already predicting doom for this little excursion, and heck, she was a seer.

But what the hey. We made it this far, right? I’ve always just winged it and everything slid into place. It’ll be no different now.

So, uhm. I wondered what it would be like to someone if they woke up on Prospit early for the first time.
So I wrote this.

It had been a long, hard for you. The stress of figuring out how to save yourself from the meteors, fighting off imps, finally heading through your first gate, and then sending the next person in the chain to the Medium, it all took a toll on you. It’s time, you decide, to take a break.

You glance up at your kernelsprite as you mount the stairs. You prototyped well, and you would trust this thing with your life When you get to your opened room (your server player accidently ripped the door off its hinges), you’re relieved to see the imps haven’t really even touched it since you went off into your first gate.

You hop into your comfortable bed, warning your sprite to wake you up instantly if anything- imp or otherwise- comes in. And as soon as your head hits the pillow you’re out like a light.

It seems like only a second later that you are waking up. You grumble a little to yourself, hating how it feels like you didn’t sleep at all. You’ve probably slept for hours, but it feels like you just closed your eyes and then opened them. You open your eyes to a wholly unfamiliar ceiling. The sudden shock hits you like a ton of bricks, and you sit up quickly. Your first, sleepy thought is that maybe the imps somehow dragged you to a previously unknown part of your world.

Jumping out of your bed, you spot a single window in the room and rush over to it. All thoughts of this being your world flee your mind as you stare out into the city below. It was golden and white, gleaming so bright from some unseen source of light it almost hurt your eyes. A short distance away, you can see a gigantic chain connecting the city to something out in space, yet still very near. Squinting, you can just make out what is maybe a moon. This is really very strange and considering what you’ve been through today, that is saying a lot.

Now that you’ve gotten your bearings (mostly), you decide to take a quick look around the room itself, looking for any way out of this place. The room itself seems circular, and all over the walls are various written things and posters of yours, much of the written stuff insulting. There is no door, and no other windows. In fact, it seems like the window is the only way in and out. It suddenly hits you why something has seemed a bit off to you. You’re wearing much different clothes then what you were wearing when you fell asleep, instead wearing a silky golden outfit the color of the city.

Going back to stand at the window, your mind again drifts to what this place is, exactly. Leaning out the window to see how far you are from the nearest ground, you’re hit with violent vertigo. There are no ledges, just a straight drop a hundred feet or more below. Any thoughts that you might have just jumped out to escape leave your mind, as it would mean certain death. There is simply no way out of here, and certainly now plausible way anyone could have brought you here. Unless…

Suddenly, the answer is clear to you. Really, it’s so obvious you wonder why it didn’t occur to you sooner. This is all a dream. Clearly, the stress and possible mild craziness gained from the game influenced your dreams. Perhaps all you had to do was simply go back to sleep!

You shiver slightly. This place, even if it is in your dreams, seems wrong somehow. Like you aren’t supposed to be here, not quite yet. You force yourself not to flip out as you walk back to the bed. Feeling a little better as soon as you get under the safety of the sheets, you close your eyes and once again effortlessly slip into sleep.

This time, you wake u with a violent start, the insistent sound of your sprite loud to you. Apparently, one of your chums is pestering you with an urgent message. You hurry to the computer, excited to discuss your dream with them. Maybe they’ll have an idea what the city meant, and if it was just a dream or not.

I'll warn you, it can be really hard getting all the people together for a multi-part song like this and getting them to all record their parts and send them to the editor, but it's definitely going on my to-do list! I'll try to start recruiting singers when I get a chance. (And get after them to get their parts for the LAST song done, blast it...)

Yeah, just the dreams the trolls have before the game, I guess. I kind of got lazy with Equius, Karkat and Terezi.

This is a rather nice work. It fits the trolls personalities rather well, a look inside the mind. The writing is solid, and the voice does change for each character. Pre-game non-violent dreams is an interesting subject, and i think you could build some good pesterlogs from that starting point.
