    Homestuck 3D Models

So, just as a project, I've decided to model the different items from Homestuck, such as a captchalogue card. I'll be posting my models here. If you guys have any models, you can also put them here, just to show them off :P

Anyways, here are some pics of my captchalogue card:

That is very cool! I tried working with 3D modeling a few times but never got very far.

Here's a cool Kanaya 3D model by the author of Gunnerkrigg Court:

Waaaay ahead of you man. And I suggest you take your models to the fanart thread for full appreciation, though that's up to you. Here's my stuff (spoilered for large amounts...)

If you want any of these models in a format suitable for your software, just PM me.

Damn...I wish I was that good.
I remember that someone on the TF2 server was wanting a Fear no Anvil model replacement, but I'm having problems with the exporter. So I can't really do anything now.

The exporter is quite broken in Blender too at the moment, because I also want to get my weapon models into TF2. No such luck as of yet.

Well, if I get my exporter for XSI working, I can compile your models for you, bob. But that's if I get it working.

Haha, would it make it worse if I said I'm an animator by trade and not a modeler? Actually I really like your four-wheeled device. Looks good.

GODAMNIT WHY IS EVERYONE BETTER THEN ME

    Anyways.

I think the exporter is working, don't you?

The only thing wrong with this is the fact that it doesn't rotate.

You can't get to the ammo crate until you use the pills!

Meh. I'll just release it with it flat on the ground. It makes more since that way.

You have animate it for that to happen. Not sure if the XSI exporter can handle animation. You can use the $includemodel command in the qc file to use an MDL file's animation, though I suggest you import the original health bottle then replace it with your captcha card before exporting.

    Re: Homestuck 3D Models

I decompiled the pill model for a scale ref, it IS replaced it that picture. I'm referencing another SMD for the animation, it's the basic idle animation. Here's my .qc:
    Code:
    $modelname	"medkit_small.mdl"
    $body healthkit	"ccsmallhealthreplacement.smd"
    $staticprop
    $surfaceprop	papercup
    $cdmaterials	"Homestuck\Items\SmallHealthKitCard"

    $sequence idle	"ccsmallhealthreplacement_idle.smd" loop fps 15

    //$collisionmodel	"myfirstmodel-phys.smd" { $concave }

    Re: Homestuck 3D Models

Well, does the $sequence smd reference the correct meshes/bones? Though, I haven't much idea about these things because I have only been trying Source modding for the last five days

    Re: Homestuck 3D Models

The body smd had the animations 'stored' in the null that the mesh was weighted to. All I did was export the same mesh as the Skeletal Animation .SMD instead of a Model .SMD. There's different options for the XSI exporter.

    Re: Homestuck 3D Models

If we ever make a homestuck TF2 map then it appears that'll be the medkit model. Awesome job.

    Re: Homestuck 3D Models

Thank you! Of course, I'm making models for the other pickups, too. Possibly even the sandvich plate, if I can get the animation working.

Guess what the code'll be for that?

    Re: Homestuck 3D Models

My first attempt at making a model, be it simple..
(Good test to learn how to actually import models into TF2 though)

I don't like blender anymore, anyone got a simple/good free modeling program?
(Just one that a new modeler could get used to fast)

Good and Free? That's a bit of a tall order. Blender is pretty impressive considering it's free, man.

Maybe I'd like it more if I could figure out how to use these line tool things.
That'd make the Harlequin doll's hat a lot easier to make.

actually, search for truspace 7.x, it's formerly comerical turned freeware. It's nice to work with too, and easier than blender (not that it's saying much)
