Aaaa I'm loving all of these.

I do have to say that Strings of Skaia really really makes me think of just happy-times Warweary Villein working on his farm. In my head, it's really cute.

That question came up when I was first making it. :|

By babbydave mix I mean xylophones and music boxes and violins.

    I know. Sooo cooooool.

Babbydave needs his own themes, and the Babbydave mix is in the right direction!

Re: OJ has way too many musics

    "Doctor"al Thesis.

So I decided to take "Doctor" apart to see how it worked. I am pleased to report that it is just as masterful a song when reduced to bare essentials as it is in its full, rich-audio glory. Funny how taking apart a song makes me respect it more.

Actually no, the above paragraph is not the entire truth. I came up with the horrible pun in the title first and just made the remix around that. Because apparently, making a Doctor remix is a rite of passage now.

Triple post because frankly if nobody's going to keep commenting on stuff sure I'll keep talking to myself.

    Dusk

Yeah, maybe I did go overboard with the gimmick instruments. Better than using the same five soundfonts for the last six or so pieces. Also some slightly more interesting rhythms.

Re: OJ has way too many musics (NEW: "Variations")

Okay, another new one? Looks like I'm settling into doing one each Saturday or something like that. Not the worst schedule ever.

    Variations

Didn't expect much of the idea, honestly. But what do you do when you have four chords? You do basically everything with them. Variations on a theme.

Oooh, you did a pretty sweet job with that. The rhythm actually tricked me at the beginning so when the strings came in I found out I was on the wrong downbeat! I've always wanted to pull that off, but it never works out.

And yess, keep doing one every Saturday, as long as they always turn out great.

As I'm probably not going to get my environs set up correctly to get anything done this weekend due to electronics malfunctioning (and pity I break my streak, because it was actually getting pretty comfortable), but Variations and Dusk are now up for high-quality download on a legit host!

Also an RSS feed, because why not.

Re: OJ has way too many musics (NEW: RSS and HIGH QUALITY)

So I'm browsing articles on the circle-of-fifths chord progression for instructional purposes, and the next thing I know it's three hours later and I have a song sitting in front of me and I'm trying to figure out what instruments to use for it.

...I don't know how that happened, either.

    Roundabout (Instrumental) (bandcamp download)
    Roundabout (Chiptune) (bandcamp download)

Personally, I like the chiptune version, but the instrumental isn't bad either.

Re: OJ has way too many musics (NEW: "Roundabout" two versions!)

I prefer the chiptune version myself, although I personally think some of the different tracks could be balanced out a little better, because sometimes it sounds like they're trying to overpower each other, in both versions. Also, it's awesome that you have a bandcamp now, and it looks so niiice

The balancing could use a little work, yes. Blame that on my sister playing contradictory music in the background. xD I'll get to it when I can.

Back to remixes. This one's for Aggrieve.

I'm not sure I'll ever make the full mix, but it sounds just fine as it is.

So seriously, I am working on something! Multiple somethings, in fact. A couple for the MSPAFA/Collab/RP/Game request thread, a mix of Descend that I may or may not finish, and putting together some radio shows (see the shiny new badge in my sig?) while I'm at it.

I'm not sure if this could be done (it depends on how you made it), but would some Piano sheet music for this be possible?

Unfortunately, exporting to a sheet-music-able form would require running around with five different shell scripts, some highly questionable programs that only worked three versions of Debian ago, and some elbow grease (which I don't have, dry skin). Oh well!

Edit: Or I could take time - time that I don't necessarily have - to transcribe it. I think you're best off learning this by ear. :|

Re: OJ has way too many musics (NEW: "Aggrieve Piano")

Oh yeah, I might also mention that I'm now attached to the good people of the GNUrb session, which happens to put out loads of animations, so they kinda needed a music source. I mentioned this, and created a music request thread, and next thing I know I have three requests in quick succession from these people. So, for bookkeeping's sake, I'm now attached to their session.

This means no more Saturday songs per se, but I'll be writing two or three projects a week and linking to the animations as they come out, rather than posting the songs directly. This will be much more interesting. It will also result in more total music.

    This will be fun.

Emotional sensitivity at its finest (aka I made unscheduled music, I really shouldn't burn myself out).
