EZ:
I made him bald because I couldn't art hair very well. I made him like red because I like red, and I figured it would be great to confuse people who are loyal to the hemospectrum. The reason I didn't just make his blood red is because that shade of red is reserved for Karkat. I gave him the mask because I couldn't art mouths either. The sunglasses always make a Z-shaped shine and I don't know how they do that. Also, he sees everything as blueish now if he takes them off.

MM:
The asymmetry thing came about while thinking of a design. Symmetry isn't really a significant thing, but I needed something to fit with the mirror theme, so I went for the opposite. Originally she was going to be a hermaphrodite, but I thought that was too weird, and also having Venus's symbol kinda implies femaleness. She has every (normal) blood color except for purple on her outfit, as well as black, gray and white as bonuses.

IC:
He was fun to design. I liked the idea that he didn't actually care about his own appearance, so he has very shaggy hair. His clothes are actually really old and used to be much brighter. He doesn't have a symbol because he considers himself undeserving (though he used to have one). He uses an electric keyboard because I imagined him being skilled at piano, and it was the most portable piano-esque thing I could think of. He's probably much higher on the echeladder than most from murdering innocents, but his sythe is a relic of his past, so he probably won't alchemize another weapon ever. BALANCE.

CS:
CS was originally based off of Gideon Graves slightly because I liked how in the movie he managed to be completely nice and a complete asshole at the same time, which is why he's very neat in his design. I decided to go in a different direction half-way through because all of my trolls wear glasses, and I wanted to do something different. Plus CS is nothing like Gideon. His horns, if joined together right (should) make a double helix or half of one, I forget which. Originally he was going to have doublehelix horns, but they looked like cat ears and I couldn't take him seriously. His hairstyle is slightly based off of a failed attempt to give EZ hair.

I put way too much thought into these silly imaginary aliens.

My trolls quirk (using @, #, *, etc. instead of at, number, star, etc. respectively) originally stemmed from the "@" on his shirt (which in turn, came from his connection with the internet); if he was completely based on me, however, it would probably be sticking a whole lot of information into as few as possible really long, but still grammatically correct, sentences, which I have a tendency to do, and this sentence is a great example of.

Also: I was looking at the first post of this thread, and felt that it could use a link to this, something I found through the image manipulation thread that has some stuff in it (and particularly the "bases" images and "Rips" folder) that can be very helpful in making trolls.

Yay! My turn to explain things.

So, Samantha, my trollsona, is obviouslly meant to represent myself. She wears a simple t-shirt and jeans because that's usually what I wear, and I gave her Aradia's hair because I couldn't draw the hair the way I wanted, short and curly, like mine, and I think long hair's very pretty. The symbol on her shirt is because I'm a virgo, but I didn't wanted to just put the virgo symbol there, so I took the symbol of the planet that's associated with virgo, which's mercury, and it also turned out to be an evil female symbol (I didn't know that before I googled it), which I think that could also represent her. And about her tiping quirk, I wanted it to be something simple and easy, so I just took off most of the caps and shortened some words, 'cause sometimes I tend to type like that (I try not to). Her blood, text and symbol colors were from my on favorite colors, cyan, purple, and pink with black (yeah, that's right, I don't like just pink, that's too girly). And I didn't give her horns just because I couldn't think of anything interesting at the time.

Now Ralphis (I'm not really sure if I should RP with him or not). He was just random. One day I was strolling arounf the forum and then I just went "I wanna make another troll!". I got his name from a random name generator, and he's an outcast because there were no outcast fan-made trolls at the time. The ninja theme just sorta popped out of nowhere, too. And, uh, yeah. Like I said he's just random, so I don't realy have a big explanation for him.

FU was my desire to start roleplaying, so I picked a rather not-confrontational personality, made her sort of dense, and was (very quickly) roped into a session XD She's well liked I guess, because she's your typical SUPER ADORABLE girl type, and uh... yeah. I don't really like her actually :| Too boring.

AV was my desire to make another character. For the luls I made him pink and a guy, and a very gRRRumpy asshole. Uhhh... he sort of evolved a personality all on his own, and he's apparently schizotypal, according to that personality disorder test that I occasionally make my characters take just so I know what I'm dealing with.

BM was me having a lot of muse one night, so I decided to do the unthinkable. Make a girl character that is a guy. FUN STUFF AMIRITE? Except then BM evolved herself into a huge character (way bigger than I originally imagined) and... Well TBH the results from that personality disorder test sort of scared me. ._.;

CC was me wanting to even out my male to female ratio, and also my asshole to nice person ratio. (Can you tell I'm a bit of a perfectionist?) I like playing him. He's my widdle mutantbaby with the cute little question mark horns. ?:'D And a hyena lusus!

ZR is ZR. I wanted an elitist, egotistical bitch that wasn't always a HUGE bitch, with a quirk that wasn't always shown. But mainly I wanted a character with nubby horns. >_>;

argh I was just about to post those results for the disorder test thing and the website was like LOLNO and now I forgot them.

I'll just work from memory. MM was, as far as I can tell, entirely sane. Just a little eccentric.

EZ had a bit of a problem in everything, with the biggest problems being in avoidance (he's scared of socializing because he doesn't want to make an idiot of himself), dependance (he relies on other people for social strength), but mostly narcissism.

CS had less problems but they were more pronounced and a bigger deal. Mainly anti-social and narcissism.

g I was listening to a lot of Danzig at the time. I wanted to make someone who lived out in the boonies more because he just ended up there rather than the "Kind of a hermit" I see a lot. So he's social, but then I decided he needed some reasons to be a gloomy bitch, so bad sopor slime. Bad nightmares. Too much time to think out in the styx even if he's personable enough on Trollian. Threne Venins is his name, and this is why: I did six-letter word searches. I can't remember why I started with T, but in the list, Threne (n. 1. Lamentation; threnody; a dirge) seemed appropriate. Don't recall why V, either, but Venins is plural of Venin (n.
Any of various toxic substances found in the venom of snakes.) and since I'd already decided on a serpent Lusus since Danzig's got a snake thing, bang. That one was quick. gnosticDirge because he's a magic guy, and I wanted GD for his trolltag initials. The 137 thing is the number 13 and the number 7, which come from Thirteen and 777 by Danzig.

eF: So I thought about the way Kanaya had the lipstick/chainsaw callback to Problem Sleuth, and realized the Bond films (especially the Roger Moore ones) had all kinds of wacky innocuous item=special tool. I thought that'd be a neat theme for a sylladex, and went from there. I wanted to make an Orange Blood, because Threne was teal, and so gave him a kind of underdog thing. He's a bundle of fun and I really wish the RP he got in died. His quirk came about because I couldn't think of something suitable that would be just some sort of letter replacement. Then I remembered an old "dialectizer" online. So I used that and still had to edit things so they flowed sensibly and threw in my own contributions to make it more colorful. Writing his trollian stuff takes longer, but I think it comes out more fun. When I decided superspy I took from all the spy movies I could think of to mold his character, then realized that I wanted some of the gentleman thief types in there to give him more color. I figured he'd be upbeat partially because GD is such a pessimist and partially because he's living out his spy fantasies. He's a little John-like with his adventure enthusiasm. Raccoon lusus, because they're clever and I like 'em. When he died in the RP I decided he'd get rabies before hand without saying "rabies" because I didn't want to come up with a trollified name for it.

iA: infiniteAvarice started as a sprite manip thing. I was making a purple blood just to see what came about, and decided he'd be bald. I'd missed all the other bald trolls in here somehow and thought it was REALLY ORIGINAL! (DERP) Now I see them everywhere. Anyway, I got done and looked at this bald troll in purple and it occurred to me that the bald character who's into purple I was most familiar with was Lex Luthor (at least on Smallville he was a purple freak). Now, I didn't want to just make Troll LL, because bluh. So I go up to the kind of archetype level and look at all the other ruthless powerhungry business dudes, and start grabbing traits and ideas from all of them. Also, I note that there are a lot of double-letter initials out there. Richard Roma, Gordon Gecko, etc. So I figure this guy's got to have a double-letter name. I figured his symbol, being the sort of guy he was, would have to incorporate his initials. OO looks like infinity if you squint just a bit, so he got OO. Ogilvy became his first name just because it was a name I knew off the top of my head that had six letters. (I looked up the meaning later, and that's why he lives on an underwater mountain.) Oorali came up in a word search, and it's another way of saying Curare, which is a paralytic poison. Shark lusus, because he is a shark. Megalodon style because he's a purple-y purple and I figured for a guy who thinks more is usually better, to give him more. He's still developing.

Honestly, they all do. None of them survive initial concept once they start chatting and getting mixed up in RP. I figure out new things about them all the time. It's kind of fun.

I have two others on the back burner, but until I'm ready to debut them I'm not gonna get all wordy about the process.

GG's quirk comes from my habit of drawing a simple owl on everything. To make an owl's face is just a simple \/ and then the draw eyes so I just remplaced the v's and w's with \/'s and \/\/'s.
So he ends up talking in a \/ery flashy \/\/ay o\/o

The Z as his symbol and his name, to be 100% honest, are meaningless. I chose them randomly because I could. A lot of things about him ended up like that. The artist thing for example, came about because I needed something for him to be obsessed with. I went with art because I spent a lot of time in english classrooms reading pretentious crap and then over-analyzing it to the point that it doesn't mean anything anymore, so I kind of personified that in EZ. That reminds me actually, eternalZeppelin? Also random. If you asked him, he'd say it was a metaphor for something.

MM:
Menusa Asunem has a nice ring to it. Menusa is a combination of Medusa (killed by mirror dur) and venus (her symbol), and Asunem is just Menusa backwards. I couldn't think of a good mirror-based palindrome for a trolltag, so I made her name one instead. Her lusus is a snake to fit with the Medusa thing, and a two-headed one to fit with the mirror/symmetry thing. Oh, and her horns are shaped like that because they don't curve in any direction, which means that they actually have an infinite amount of planes of symmetry because they're a cylinder. That's right, even they have a reason. Oh yeah.

IC:
"Hanilb" is a shortening of Hannibal, and "Roctel" is an anagram for "Lector". He was originally going to be much more open and charismatic, but I went the crabby asshole route instead. IC's original horns have their own reasoning, which I won't reveal for spoilers, but broken horns fit with the whole "bad past" thing. His lusus is supposed to be a bear, which is because bears were the most terrifying large creature I could think of at the time and he needed something large and threatening. The reason I made it a special "Black" lusus was to fit with the mutation and white/black theme that IC seems to have going for him. I might as well bring LL up as well. Although he isn't shown, his symbol is three chain links linked together, kind of like an infinite sign, or an 8 on it's side but longer I guess. Apart from that I can't reveal anything else. SPOILERS BRO.

I love reading all these explainations, I'm such a dork. My turn!

IS: idleShutter started off as my personal chumhandle that I'd use then when trollsonas cropped up, it turned into a character. Personality-wise, IS is basically a caricature of me! I'm pretty crabby at times and not much of a people-person so I just exaggerated it for IS. The name was random aside from the Pho part of Phoden which is from my username. :B Alot of things were just random like I plain liek orange, I took the symbol from a list of unicode characters, I had rats in the past hence the lusus, bluh bluh bluh. Big secret though, I originally meant IS to be a girl and still refer to him/her/whatever as such in my head. But since everyone in my session assumes IS to be a guy, I just left it because I never call people out of getting my gender wrong on the internet so why should IS? And I guess the picture I drew doesn't give much away either way so I don't know what IS is anymore! Girl, guy, I can't decide!

FA: He is 50% Arctic Monkeys references, 50% polar opposite of IS! :D Fluorescent Adolescent came up on iTunes shuffle and I basically thought "That would be an awesome trolltag," and so he came into being. I needed a happy troll so balance out IS so he is cripplingly happy and optimistic even though he has some issues. He's a blue-blood because, obviously, he should have something fluorescent and I wanted a high-caste troll this time, later did I find that the single of the song I based him on has a light blue and black cover yay! His name is Mardyl Riotan which is taken from Arctic Monkeys song names, specifically Mardy Bum and Riot Van. xD His lack of fingers is because I was working on his design at the same time as another troll I was doodling who only had one hand so I mashed them both together, but having one hand would stop him playing guitar which I wanted to keep so he just lost a few fingers. FA is also a desperate romantic because I am a bluh bluh huge shipper. Troll relationships sure are fun!

I'm probably forgetting lots of stuff but it'll come to me at some point. :D
