Catch on fire with enthusiasm and people will come for miles to watch you burn.
No I'm pretty sure it's just you. Looking at the minioutcry in this thread alone says something about that.
Homestuck is not a conventional comic, nor is it a conventional anything. It's a cross-media thingy now. Animation is a medium, music is a medium, pictures are a medium, text is a medium. Homestuck simply would not work without all of them. Going back through the pesterlogs, you couldn't really "prune" any of them out without also taking out chunks of necessary plot that couldn't necessarily be shown in picture form.
Hussie is very good at using text when text is useful and pictures when pictures are useful.
Eh. I like the logs. They're part of what makes HomeStuck so great. Wish we could get more little mini-animations with sound though.
Edit: What Andrew and sM said. The best part of HomeStuck has always been its unique fusion of medias into one grand tale.
This is also pretty relevant to the future of MSPA and the increase in text.
You missed the memo. The time to complain about this was two months ago during the height of the troll arc. Not now, where dialogue and narrative text has recently been tapering off.
Showing vs. telling is one of the most radically misunderstood literary concepts I've encountered. It seems to be the number one go-to critique for anyone wishing to take a creator to task. I picture people fresh out of creative writing 101, released into society as deadly exposition snipers, prepared to cry foul with no regard for any other contributing factor, such as the occasional need for strategic doses of outright telling, measured deployment of unconventional storytelling practices, or just straightup literary license.
Words can show too. Books use words to show all the time.
Andrew, you're using too damn many words again.
I can't understand you without pictures.
I'm just going to skip over that and wait for him to punch somebody.
Also this series of remarks is just so silly, I don't even know what to say. You just do not get it, and it isn't for you.
There exists in your imagination a phantom which you regard as the ideal MSPA. If you encountered a genie who enabled you to release this phantom to assert itself on the website as it now exists, you would be doing a disservice to the world.
Catering to the preferences of a person who is disgruntled by words is nothing for an artist to strive for.
aAUUUH more words
Alright that's all the words you'll get out of me today.
I think Hussie did a fine job with characterization of the exiles, there stories were the best part so far.
That is some wicked meek backpedaling.
That's way too many exclamation marks for a sane mind
I laughed.
Honestly, it was annoying at first (especially when there was more than one troll in a convo, back when I could barely understand what they were saying) but now that I've gotten used to it I enjoy them.
...Now that I think about it, that's sort of how I feel about the entire story. At first it sounds confusing and you don't get any of it, then over time you start to appreciate it.
Alice: But I don't want to go among mad people.
The Cat: Oh, you can't help that. We're all mad here. I'm mad. You're mad.
i think there should be more troll romance pages, just because of this thread.
Guys, did you hear? The characters aren't real, so who cares!!!
Time to shut this fraudulent bullshit down. The story was all a huge lie.
But you can still talk about all of the planets and shitty game mechanics and time paradoxes and stuff! Plus with explosions!
Wait, those were never real either. Shit.
So you mean the t-shirt I paid $25 for didn't belong to the real Dave?
Well fuck this.
sweet bro and hella jeff is more aesthetically pleasing than homestuck anyway. at least SBaHJ has real characters and TEXT BOXES
It's probably just cause I have ADD that makes it so hard to read. I always get distracted and end up taking like an hour to finally finish one. So you can understand my frustration.
