    [FG] Housetrapped (Thread 2): Bring in the Java //Java devs wanted!


    HOUSETRAPPED is a fan game that was originally conceived as a playable form of Homestuck. Over time, it became its own story and branched out into a FAN ADVENTURE as well. With the help of MSPA fans and the dedication of a few people, HOUSETRAPPED is presented to you now in the form of a demo.

    But first, some information...


    Early on the morning of APRIL 10TH, 2009, a boy stands in his bedroom. This boy's name is PETER SALT and today he would play a game with this friends: SBURB. Peter connected with his friend PEPPER IVES who would become his server player. Together with the help of Pepper, Peter was able to escape death by meteors by some unexplained means. Now, he finds himself in an unfamiliar place. His KERNELSPRITE (which he PROTOTYPED with a PROBLEM SLEUTH figurine) underwent a strange transformation and left behind a ghostly SPRITE. Now, a voice whispers in his ear...

    Housetrapped is designed to be a playable form of Homestuck. It is not meant to replicate Sburb, though it will contain aspects of Sburb. During the game, the player will be able to walk around and interact with their environment. They can inspect objects and store many of them in the sylladex. Several fetch modi will be available for use. There will also be puzzles to solve, so checking everything out might be crucial to completing them.

    A fighting system like the one seen in "[S] ACT 4 ==>" will be in place. The player will be able to collect grist spoils from enemies and climb rungs on the echeladder. Your overall strength and how much grist you can carry will be determined by the rung you are currently on.

    Alchemization will be present in Housetrapped. Though in-fiction there is lots of running around to do until the alchemiter is upgraded, in Housetrapped this will all be condensed into one menu from the start. Though spreading it out would be more "official" the consolidation will make it more playable.
    Players will be able to alchemize a wide range of weapons and other items. There will be several levels of recombination present. (THIS IS CURRENTLY NOT IMPLEMENTED, BUT IN PROGRESS)

    An important aspect of Homestuck and Sburb is building. This, of course, will be important in Housetrapped as well. It has not been fully decided how building will work yet. (THIS IS CURRENTLY NOT IMPLEMENTED


    So, you want to help Housetrapped progress? This is great, I can't stress how much I need help with this. I would really love another programmer or two who knows their way around GM (or could quickly). I always need art so that means I always need artists! And musicians too. If you can do any of these, send me a PM with a sample of work. If I think it is really good you will be accepted as part of the team.

    Also, you may get a PM from me so be on the lookout.

    That's not a loading screen. Hit the "Z" key. Forgot to add instructions.

    Windows version ought to be fixed now. Won't be doing new builds to fix the typo someone found today. I need a break.

    That was pretty cool! It was very alike the flash stages in Homestuck.

    EDIT: Will there be a zoom out feature when controlling your character?

    I appear to be having trouble clicking on the stairs. I managed it, but the mouse had to be in juuust the right spot.

    You did Sollux's quirk wrong.

    He does "two" for "to" and "too", not 2. He does 2's for S's.

    I got housetrapped behind the cruxite in the bedroom for a while. The path between that and the keyboard seems iffy. Also, the clickables seem to have small clickboxes. Other than that, looks cool!

    Bluh, I'll fix the mistakes. The Sollux one is due to someone's converter so we should all rave about in his thread.

    I forgot some objects and put some band-aids on it so some clickboxes may be a bit small. In the final they will be normal. As for that path it's probably due to some small oversight in the collision map. I never bothered to walk in between those two.
