We ♠ Bad Movies is a movie riffing show maintained by genericAnomaly [Sprak] and myself. We host at least one show every week, usually on Saturday. Movie selection and showtimes are strongly influenced by the forum community, so feel free to make suggestions and discuss preferences; anything that a few people agree on will probably end up happening.

I have a good story about Wicker Man. My friends and I were watching it for jokes, with all the lights out in someone's basement. We're just laughing at the outrageous shittiness of it all, and it gets to the double-daydream bit when he's on the dock or something, and he thinks his daughter's under the dock so he dives in, then he wakes up and it zooms out and she's in his arms or something. But right when it zoomed out, at the very exact moment that it shows Cage and his dumbfounded expression at the child's corpse in his hands, the TV shuts off. Only actually scary part of that movie.

Nic Cage has made enough bad movies to sustain the community for a while (Deadfall, Bangkok Dangerous, Next, Ghost Rider, Knowing, etc.) And yes I would totally be up to watching bad movies ala MST3K.

I would do this if we didn't already have a scheduled movie riff night locally, though seeing as the last movie we watched was called "Death Bed: The Bed That Eats", I think I may need a venue less terrible to retain my pleasant nature.

We were discussing it last night, and came up with 4 lists. The first is for movies that are bad, but are at least decently paced enough to play alone and just riff in the chat. Then there's movies that really need audible riffing, which we might do live or record a track in advance / buy the rifftrax. Category three is Nick Cage movies. And then there's Deep 413, where Manos falls; we'll show them, but since those're more for bad movie veterans, we'll probably hold off at first.

Thanks for all the feedback so far! We won't be able to do more than plan for a while since it's the halloweekend, but GA was compiling a list of movies we have/want and catagorizing them by the feeling they'd set riff-wise, so he might drop that by sometime soon.

I'd say Ghost Dad is a strong possibility, but GA is pretty keen on Dune so our first showing might be those two.

Hey, if there's a vote for Ghost Dad, I'm on board. Dune is in the audio riffing category anyway, so I'm cool taking some time to prepare for it first. I've got grocery shopping to do this week, so I'll try to find a video rental store going out of business (pretty easy as of late actually) and rifle through the bin for some good stuff.

E: Oh, realised I should probably mention this, I'm the aforementioned genericAnomaly [GA] helping Lt. Fish put this together.

I dunno about Manos. I can't even get through the MST'd version, and I have a pretty high tolerance for bad movies.

Dune might be a good one. I've never seen it, but I love the book. Then again, that might be a good reason not to watch it...

I'm still voting for Ghost Dad.

If anyone is interested I've got a copy of jesus christ vampire hunter. It is by far the worst movie that I have ever decided to put myself through the torture of watching.

But I'm up for Ghost Dad if all else fails

I don't anticipate showing Caligula, that's more of a BMAR (Bad Movies About Raptors) After Dark film...

Since it's getting plenty of shoutouts, Ghost Dad will likely be our inaugural show.

Also, Lt. Fish, HMA and I were discussing candidates in IRC and Cracked's 6 psychotic children's movie ripoffs list came up; having watched a few of those when they were still on youtube, I think we will probably be adding them to the pile for the sheer WHAT? content. Not content to just provide us with one list, it turned out Cracked had just published 5 baffling horror movies as well, from which I draw my nominee for second movie of the show. Enjoy:
