IT'S OVER
I was merely suggesting an alternative. We can still use your list and have a MBM. Meet-ups are fun.
Okay, well, I'm at the end of the green line, and I know I'll definitely be attending, so yay!
Um... I don't know what else to add. Do you want suggestions for locations? I don't care. If it's West Coast, I probably cannot go, only because it's super expensive to go to the west coast. I think the biggest clusters of bunny peeps are around Washington D.C., New York City, and maybe Boston? Actually, I think there are 5-7 people in the LA area, too, for that matter.
Wow, thanks for making a thread about this, Nyankokimi!I thought about it but was too scared people wouldn't use it. :P
Personally, I'm for just doing the meetup for meeting up's sake, but that's here nor there, I suppose. I like the idea of all the bunnies being finished, kinda has a nice way of closure.
So to sure, it's okay to PM everyone with a list of general questions, which will be mostly about who can/ be willing to attend, people's thoughts on how far they'd be willing to travel (I think I'll simplify these for now), aaaaand.... anything else?
Also, should we invite people who had to drop out and those who were too late but interested in joining?
...I don't want to sound obsessive.... it's just really exciting to think about.....
WB: I was trying to be funny. n_n' Let's all laugh together! HAHAHAHAHAHA! (seriously!)
712: Let's not PM people just yet. That's going to end up in a very full PM box of at least a bajillion PMs for you to wade through.
I think it's safe to say that the highest concentration of MSPAer in the HF1 line are on the East Coast... Yellow and Purple Lines are proof of that.
We should first decide if we're going to plan this around the highest concentration of HF1ers without the consent of who may or may not be attending (as in, well, between East and West coast, most HF1 people are /here/, so let's pick a location on /this coast/), or if we're going to figure out who will be *without a doubt* attending and pick a place that is equidistant from those people and plan it that way.
I have no idea how to set up a poll for this, so... let's see what happens:
HF1-participants, answer me this:
Would you rather...
1. Have the MBM location decided by where the highest concentration of HF1 participants currently live.
or
2. Have the lMBM location decided by who plans to participate in the MBM regardless of the location it ends up being in.
Nyankokimi: That's true.
You cannot beat Nyankokimi in an organizer-off, she is simply the best there is!
Seriously, you do a lot, and that's pretty cool!
In any case, I'd be happy with a MBM location being amidst the largest population of HF1 people. I'd be okay with helping/arranging people's travels if it's a little too far for them. P:
I think I can safely say that I will not be helping out with this endeavor during the next couple of weeks.
Please don't mistake my silence for lack of interest, I'm just going to be fairly busy.
WB: You made trolls for me. WE ARE FRIENDS FOR LIFE!!!
712: You are a generous male or female. You will have all the ladies and gents knocking on your door for MBM travel assistance. Including myself. XD (I mean, seriously - who doesn't like saving money?
Ok, so far we have:
1. Based on highest concentration of HF1ers = 3
2. Based on people participating = 2
(I counted myself and WB as a vote for each since we can feasibly do both. It sounded better than leaving them as blank votes.)
And it's cool, Fish. :3
I'm sorry, but I don't really understand the second option. I honestly won't know whether or not I'm going to be participating until the location is decided upon, and I'm sure that's true of a fair number of people. I'm not going to commit to this until I know if I'll be able to get there, so would that mean I wouldn't be included in "people participating"? Cause if so then I'm voting for the first.
Lcheeseboy raises a good point - I think the second option is a bit too vague at the moment. It might be better to say that option 1 is to set a location nearest to one of the largest concentration of Hareforcers and that option 2 is for... for...
I'm honestly not even sure what to change it to off the top of my head.
nyankokimi, if you're suggesting we hold the location near to Hareforcers that don't mind having to travel, that seems a little backwards - it seems like if you have a large group of people who are willing to travel, the location should be held somewhere where there's the next largest concentration of people who aren't willing/able to travel.
That being said, my ability to travel to a Massive Bunny Meetup really depends more on the time when it would be held rather than the location. I could potentially swing flying out somewhere as long as it was later on enough that I had the time and money to be able to do so, but if it ends up happening right as I'm getting back from something else or whatever... well, you get the idea.
I thought seventwelve's writeup for a potential PM to all Hareforcers (from the HF1 thread) was a pretty good jumping-off point for gauging interest, available funds, willingness to travel, etc. I (personally) think those are the first things we need to take into consideration when trying to determine where to narrow down the list of potential meet locations to.
Just my two cents!![]()
Actually, it looks like I won't have time to read and comprehend this thread either, so be sure to contact me directly if you need my opinion or information.
Ndoto - No, yeah, this sort of discussion is exactly what this thread is about! Working out the best way to set things in stone.
I guess my biggest concern is just loading one person's inbox with a lot of messages... if you're actually cool with this 712, then I am all for doing this via PM.
I wish there was some sort of way we could set this up like one of those quiz sites or something... anyone handy with this sort of thing? Where people can just click the options that 712 suggested in the form of a survey, and then they're complied together automatically so that we can just look at the results as people are submitting them? Maybe this isn't as good of an idea as I'm thinking it is since there's also the potential of people taking the survey twice to get results in favor to what they'd want... :/ I just worry about it being overly time consuming. What are your thoughts on this, 712, since you were the one to suggest it in the first place?![]()
I'll just say that I'd love to go, but probably have no feasible method of getting to where the meet-up is. Money and transportation make fools of us all. I am, however, perfectly willing to carpool with someone, should there be a person willing to haul my ass with them up to the MBM.
Troll emoticons!
Thanks for the concern, Nyankokimi!
I'd be absolutely 0kay with doing this over PM, since that way people could only 'vote' once and all could be kept track of relatively easily, being in one place. Keeping this thread open for people to discuss the matter openly would be a good balance, though.
Totally agree we need some sort of poll machine for this. Or at least that'd be super convenient. There has to be some kind of free poll service hanging around the internet somewhere, don't you think? I'll search around a bit and see what our options look like. Give me a couple of hours?
Either which way we do this, I think we'd still have to PM quite a few members to let them know what's going on. I'm not sure of how many keep track of these threads....
Thank you!
*Salutes*
I've found a good survey application, and I think I should be able to send one out to everyone before midnight (or a couple of hours, whichever. P: )
Does anyone on the Blue line, or peeps on the Teal, Purple and Violet lines outside of the North American continent, want to be sent a survey? Or maybe I should just PM you with question if you want/ can travel to the MBM?
Maybe I'll wait and think about it before I do anything on that...
Let's see how this goes!
I'm on the Pink Line, near Santa Cruz--about two hours south of San Francisco. SF is no biggie, but anything much farther than that (in any direction) wouldn't be very feasible for me, since A. I still live with my parents and B. I don't know how to drive, so I'd have to have one of said parents drive me.
I can see this happening in the UK or Northeast US, but other than that the distances between places among those in the same line are pretty long, it takes 7-9 hours to drive from Tucson to Los Angeles for example. Airplane, bus, and train tickets are also pretty expensive.
If you guys REALLY badly want to do something like this and really badly want as many people as possible to come, you might need a fund or fundraiser.
Oh, that is a sweet comment. Yessir, totally planned to post results on your birthday, yep. Good thing I'm already working on your cake.
How do you feel about people being in your birthday cake?
And Acey Enn, if this goes anywhere, I'll see if I can set up some kind of car pool route of some kind... at least keep an eye on things. We'll try to help include everyone we can!
Arcana: Very true. After we see how many want to go, but are short of money, we'll try to accommodate as much as possible.
That said, anyone have suggestions for money in this situation? Unless we have some generous folks with Rich Uncles or deep wallets... Being such a big potential group, I still think it'd be too small for a kiva micro loan or something like that. The best I see working is just pooling resources; trading cheap travel sites, coordinating itineraries... we'll see when it gets to that point.
Seeeeeeven, we only need one PM!
; - ;
I got it 4 times...... ;-;
I'm going to admit... the money thing... worries me.
I'm not saying that I doubt the power of friendship, but I also don't want someone running off with my donated $50 to help get them to a MBM.
Just my thoughts on it, though.
Solaris, you must be on, like... four lines to make that happen. Or 712 is trying to hit on you. ::wink wink::
