Michigan Homestuck Meetup

Hey guys I'm new to the forums, plus I'm a younger homestuck fan... I saw there was a post about youmacon, is anyone really going ? Because I really wanna make this happen QAQ

I'll be going to Youmacon hopefully. (: I currently reside in Sterling Heights
I've also recruited my best friend to like Homestuck. She may be coming.
I can't promise I'll cosplay, but I'd love to meet you guys if you're attending. ^_^

I won't be attending Yomacon unless I manage to move out by then, but I will be at NMAcon for sure.

Unfortunately not in a Homestuck cosplay, but most likely as Waka from the video game Okami.

Meh for the youmacon thing, my mother informed me that I will probably not be able to attend youmacon for the whole weekend (since she, herself, is not a fan of anime and would get bored easily), and probably not on a Friday, so if we cold hold the meetup on either Saturday or Sunday, that would be wonderful...

Welp, I'm going to be doing this again, pretty much same song and dance as last time.

I’m going to be at the Grand Traverse Mall on Saturday the 18th of August, from 1:30 pm to roughly 6:30 pm. I plan to start the meet around 2:00, plan on gathering in the food court near Sbarro’s. From there, we can just kinda of wander the mall, talk, draw, whatever. Also, I plan on bringing some Yugioh cards, because I’d love to test my new decks on someone who isn’t my bro.

I’d recommend bringing about $20 along for food or just general shopping.

Last order of business, cosplay should probably be OK, just be sure to keep it under control. I’d recommend not going all out troll, though. I don’t want the mall cops getting pissy and booting people just because they look a bit odd, because I can assure you, they will. Just…make sure you don’t go too crazy?

I’ll probably be wearing a black t shirt, jeans and a black hoodie. You could definitely tell by the Cairo Overscarf that I plan on wearing though. I hope to see some Homestucks there!

Doing a quick check for any Be the Seadweller Lowblood cosplayers attending Youmacon. We've got IGA Karkat and Cuvier Safiro all up in this. Looking for a lowblood Eridan to possibly join in the fun, or any other alt troll from the series.

I'm probably not doing meetups anymore. I've been doing a lot of thinking on the matter, and there are apparently some people who think I might be some sick, weird pervo. Quite honestly, it hurts to know I am being slandered like that, but it also helped me to more fully realize just how much of the homestuck fandom is skewed towards females with a goodly portion of them being under 18, so I am just going to gtfo before the rumors get any worse, because I seriously do not need to BS that such things will bring into my life. Also, while I personally know that I would not do anything to anyone, it doesn't prevent me from feeling hella awkward being around a group of Homestucks that are underage. :I I may or may not host general meetups at some future date for just any general nerd thing, like some sort of sci-fi/anime/web comic mixer. Still haven't decided though, mainly since I am likely to be busy with college and that, but we'll see. For now, peace out, guys.

Pretty sure it's Cosplay Music Video. And yes, Cosplay IS supposed to be about having fun, but I can't HAVE fun when I have to worry about feeling awkward or singled out as some sort of pervert from other people's overactive perceptions that are fueled by the distrust instilled in many due to the few bad people in the world as opposed to the many good people that should help them to feel less paranoid. I will still attend Youmacon as I can, and I might keep an eye out for any Homestucks to say hello to and take pictures with in passing, but I am not going to go out of my way to find any homestuckers, because I really don't need the type of bad situation that could be brought on me as a result of some paranoid idiot. Still, I don't see why it should stop me from carrying out things that were already planned, so I will plan one more meetup.

The Details
Where: Farmington Hills Zap Zone
When: Saturday, September 22nd.
Who: Any Homestuckers and friends of Homestuckers that wish to attend.
Activities: Laser Tag + Any other activities that anyone wishes to take part in. I will be bringing along my Yugioh Cards for anyone who wants to have a few duels.
Start Time: 1 P.M., with arrival time starting at 12 Noon.
Cosplay: Minimalist Cosplay requested. You don't have to Cosplay if you don't want to or don't have the clothing for it.
Cosplay Guidelines: No facepaint, no troll makeup. Horns and shirts are all right, and if you want to wear a fancy Homestuck Kids Suit, awesome, but please keep the skirts, the dresses, and any clothing that may attract the wrong kind of attention put up until someone else's meetup or a convention.
Disclaimer: This will be the last Homestuck meetup I host. After this, as Porky Pig himself so succinctly put, "That's all folks".

After Zap Zone we will move to another public spot for any remaining meetup related things. Bring your camera's if you want to take pictures with/of people, and please bring a snack to share, as well as a group activity game if you can manage it.

@Strider: I see you can't be moved on the subject, and it makes me feel ashamed that fellow Homestucks would isolate a player. Thank you for hosting so many events, although I won't be able to visit any that aren't large event-wise. I hope you'll at least be treated nicely by people at Youmacon. I'll keep an eye out!

Well, as it turns out, my new endeavor to organize a Homestuck meet for Northern MI has failed miserably yet again.

Not one person showed up.

Pretty disheartened about that, but at least I know of one person going to NMAcon *shrug*

Trust me, it's better for everyone that I do what I am doing. In this way, I may have a chance at not having to worry about my name being slandered any further, and they will be freed of one more perceived threat...the operative word there being PERCEIVED. Meh, *shrugs* I have more important things to worry about anyway, like whether or not there is going to be some not so minor miracle that allows me to attend classes in the fall, and if not, if I can somehow manage to land a job at Gameplay. Actually, I could probably see if I can convince my dad to occasoinally part with some cash for bus fare and take the bus there. If I go out of my way to travel to and from, showing an interest in how the place runs and what they've got, I may have a better chance at landing a job there. Who knows? Now that I think of it, I should also start working on my Resume, which I have left untouched for YEARS. So much information to put on there, and I have to find a way to say the most with the fewest words, which might be a bit of a problem for me since it could be said that I am windfang personified when it comes to conversations and the like.

Anyhoo, looks like a lot of people are talking bout Youmacon! I'd love to attend again this year, but I don't know how my parents would feel bout that. Last year was epic, btw!

Also, just f.y.i., I find myself drifting away from the MSPA Forums, and it's probably not too much longer before I am gone from them entirely, so don't be surprised if there comes a time when you see I have not been on in months, not that there is anyone here who is likely to care, but meh, *shrugs* I figured I'd at least give you guys a heads up.

Also for anyone who is going to the meetup that I had planned for tomorrow, please remember to keep the look as casual as possible. Light cosplaying is fine, let's just please keep the full outfits put away until Youmacon, okay?

...Oh, that's actually pretty disappointing that you'll be gone, Strider. I thought you were pretty awesome. Also was hoping that you'd be able to make it to a meetup farther north, but...I guess not :/

Also, thinking about maybe doing another mall meetup in TC, probably on October 14. FYE is having one of their anime spectacular days where people come to the mall in cosplay and stuff, so...I don't see why not. If nobody shows up for the homestuck meet again, at least I'll have other people to talk to this time.

I think you're mistaken, only East Lansing Meetup last year had less than ten people. I heard nothing of a large one, let's try not to jump on people.
