Starfall - an adventure inspired by Homestuck and EarthBound - yet is neither, and something original. It's done by me (OfficerJordan) and another user on the fora (Aangie). We tend to split the work, but we both love illustration so much we'll both be working on the art. Some updates might be drawn by her. Animations will also be done by her, like panel 2 below. Sburb won't be involved in this adventure, though some Homestuck and MSPA traditions will be seen here. Now, let's go on this voyage of discovery together, shall we?


Far from the hustle and bustle of the city, the night is quiet. All the people are in a peaceful slumber in their beds, including one thirteen-year-old girl.






OH GOD, WHAT'S GOING ON?


The girl gets up, all groggy, and switches the light on. She looks out the window. A strange purple fire is burning in the distance. There must've been some sort of explosion.

She realizes she should probably introduce herself, but look at her! She's a mess! Close your eyes and turn around so she can make herself more presentable.

Your name is ALICIA BRADY.

You're a thirteen-and-a-half year old girl, living in a small town on the outskirts of a fictional city in a fictional country, all of which may be named later. Despite the struggles of growing up, you maintain a steady confidence and rarely doubt yourself. You are quite bright and imaginative, and just a bit clumsy.

You dress quite femininely, but have a number of esoteric interests. You spend plenty of time on the INTERNET and have quite an interest in RETRO GAMES, including a game called EARTHBOUND, which you own the Player's Guide for and play on your SNES downstairs. You keep EarthBound paraphernalia around, including posters and your favorite FOPPY (pink) and FOBBY (orange) throw pillows.

You also have an interest in BIOLOGY, and keep many books which detail different types of animals. Your favorite animal is the BUTTERFLY - your city is well known for its abundance of butterflies - and you watched a show called FLUTTER THE MAGIC BUTTERFLY in your early childhood, maintaining a poster of it on your wall. You have a BUTTERFLY COLLECTION on your adjacent wall that may or may not be seen ever. You have a milder interest in ASTRONOMY as well, but there's probably someone out there with a bigger interest.

It is almost midnight on JUNE 4th, and school is out for the summer. Your RATHER QUIRKY PARENTS are probably sleeping right now. Somehow, a strange curiosity surrounding that purple explosion is pulling at you. Perhaps your life is about to get a whole lot more interesting. But this doesn't mean you can't screw around first, based on the whim of total internet strangers.

What will you do?

Updating, since I'm awake and Aangie is out of town for most of the day. I'll wait until she gets back so she can do the next one, though.

Alicia: Retrieve arms from drawers.

You fell for Alicia's trap! Now she can give you a lecture. You really need to break that 'retrieve arms' habit! One of these days, there will be some poor kid with amputated arms, and you'll tell him to retrieve his arms, but he really won't have any arms to retrieve, and then you'll just feel bad! Do you want that?!

You do have something important in your drawers, but you think you'll come back to it later.

Alicia: Check the book or book-like object on the floor.

You can't sleep now, so you figure you can nerd out. You pick up the OFFICIAL EARTHBOUND PLAYER'S GUIDE! Oh man, this game is so great. It starts with a meteor crashing nearby the hero's house. Nothing like that could ever possibly happen to you, especially right now in this adventure.

Alicia: Observe motivational poster.

This always inspires you when you look at it. You feel like you can do anything!

Alicia: Decorate lampshade using any stationery/cosmetics nearby.

Like this, for example. You decorate the base instead of the lampshade, because this was just something you had to do.

It's not very feminine, but it feels like your lamp has come to life. You just hope it doesn't really come to life.

Alicia: Go out in the hallway.

There isn't much to do in the upstairs hallway. A laundry basket and a potted plant are the only things here. Your parents seem to have slept through the big explosion. They are so weird!!! You don't know whether or not you should wake them up, so you keep the light off.

Hello everybody! I'm the other updater! Thanks for joining in, and I'll try to fit in everything since we're so early in the adventure.

What kind of idiot do you presume her to be? No. No. You refuse to eat the plant. Or squawk like an eagle. The noises could wake your sleeping parents, and they plant juices might stunt your growth!

And yet... the plant... it beckons with its tempting leaves...

You are KIND OF SHORT. The window is KIND OF HIGH. Therefore, you use the trusty hallway laundry basket to view out the window. Hopefully your MOM won't get too mad about tracking dirt on the clothes. Unless the clothes are dirty anyways.


The yard is bathed in midnight blue, and the stars twinkle overhead. Far in the distance is the CITY, where the lights blink from the far distance. You notice a BUSH in the middle of the yard. The only unusual sight is an ODD LAVENDER GLOW spreading across the hills behind your yard.

You look closer at the BUSH. BUSHES are famous for hiding SPITEFUL CROWS. They are fairly easy to defeat with a quick bash and a SMAAASH, and can drop a COOKIE when defeated! However, this is only in a video game. This doesn't actually happen.Or does it....

It doesn't exist. You have no psychic powers. You actually have no idea why you did that, and this adventure will probably not follow along the lines of EarthBound, no matter how cool the game is.

Your inexplicable curiosity is growing, against your better judgement. No one else appears to be checking out the purple glow, so it seems to be up to you. But you feel a little nervous. It's time to get equipped.
