Contrary to popular belief, no.
Contrary to popular belief, no.
If I saw someone with a Homestuck T-shirt/Hoodie... hmm...
I would definately try and make conversation. Over the past couple of months I have become a total Homestuck nerd. I wouldn't go to extremes like my friends have once done. Apparently one of my friends saw a guy in a Karkat (Cancer) tee and pretty much stalked them. She's weird like that though.
Okay, so remember when I told you about that kid that read Homestuck that I found in my school on Halloween? Well he showed me to his friend who also read it, and much to my dismay it was a girl who I run into all the time. She was like, "You read Homestuck?!" and I was like, "You read Homestuck!?" She then proceeded to run up to me and give me a great big hug. It was awesome.
If I saw someone in any shirt, but ESPECIALLY a Gamzee shirt Id go up behind them and whisper "Honk, Honk Motherfucker"
I'd walk up and make an obscure reference that they'd understand and then I'd jump for joy and randomly hug them. This much is certain.
I've worn my Time hoodie to uni several times in the last month (Since I only own four or so warm things, I just go through them all every few days).
Nobody recognised it. It's a computing course and I walk through the design department every day or two. I mean come on...
I saw a kid at the Temecula Mall yesterday wearing the Vriska-made green slime ghost shirt. Even had a green coat on and square glasses. I should have said something. I didn't have time to react!
So, it's a late birthday gift, but, today, my friend Gave me a Green Slime Shirt. I shitbrix. He brought a hammer too, which I shoved down his backpack, because I didn't want a referral... but.DDD

Also, Fantroll:
My friend wore a Breath hoodie to school today.
My other friend got a Time hoodie the same day
And my other friend wears a bright orange, not related to Homestuck, hoodie.
They're pretty much always right next to each other
In a sea of brown, gray and black, they'll be easy to find.
...I should totally get a Space hoodie.
Honestly, if I saw someone wearing the merch, I would say oh cool, then talk to @curiousTerminal about it. Then, I would go on.
Saw a girl come out of the class before mine today wearing a hero of space shirt. I did a double take, but then she was gone :\
Well it turns out the girl who said she liked my sweatshirt was dating this really nice girl who reads Homestuck, but she was just too shy to say anything.
So then we met each other and we gave each other a big hug and everything was Homestuck and nothing hurt.

...I'd really like to believe that I'd be able to respond in some normal, socially apt way. But I probably wouldn't. It'd probably go something like this--

Er, not to be a wet blanket, but there are a lot of people, even homestuck fans, who would really not be receptive to that. You could freak them out and really take them out of their comfort zone, on top of the fact that some people will be offended by the "motherfucker" part.
Also the same thing kind of goes for running up and hugging people. It's one thing to want to recognize a fellow fan, but being in the same fandom as someone doesn't mean they want you intruding their personal space.
Sorry for being such a stick in the mud, but it's important to remember that.
I know that i would completely spaz out. Seriously; this is my desktop wallpaper:
After reading a heap of this thread, i have a sudden and intense urge to cosplay as gamzee...
I got an account for the forums just so I could share my shirt success stories with you all~ (and also because this forum seems awesome and I want to be best friends with every single one of you) *ahem*
On 10/25 I wore my Bec shirt to celebrate the EOA, and this girl in my class said "I like your shirt" and I asked her if she read Homestuck. She said "YES" and then we proceeded to spazz about the EOA flash. It was pretty magical, and now we are buds.
And then I realized how weird it feels to say the trolls names and things like "moirail" out loud in conversation...
Then yesterday on 11/11 I wore my Bec shirt again! I've worn this shirt in my friday class before and no one said anything, so I wasn't expecting anyone to recognize it, but then in walks a girl wearing a Breath hoodie! After class was over I went up to her and said "Hey Hero of Breath, how's it going?" and she smiled and we proceeded to be excited over the new guardian kids.
And then we parted ways and I realized I forgot to get her name.Oh well, I'll see her next friday anywayyy
Well about a week ago when I was walking out of a class I saw a kid in a Terezi shirt. Me being the social person I always am, walked awkwardly up to him and said " I like your shirt.". He looked a bit confused for a bit until i said (in a rather Tavros-like fashion) "It's a ,uh, Homestuck shirt.". After a bit I realized I was going to be late for my next class I smiled and said "Well its ,um good to see someone else reads Homestuck around here!" and ran away. Now that I think about it I just basically killed all possible Homestuck-related chats with him. Oh-well![]()
I think if I saw somebody with an homestuck shirt I would probably try to talk to him, since I never met anybody who knew what a Homestuck is. And I would probably have a really awkward discution because my spoken english is horrible.
sadly I've yet to meet anyone in a homestuck shirt other than me ): One of my friends owns a Gamzee shirt and I wear my Dave shirt quite often, but I suppose rural victoria in australia is not the best place to be looking for other homestuckers ):
However, I plan on wearing my Breath/Light hoodie (whichever one I get) if I ever take a trip down to Melbourne, so hopefully there will be someone in the city who will recognise it!
I just hope no one actually tacklehugs me, because I would probably cry!
I am so pumped to get the broken record shirt though. I need more long sleeve shirts.

Turns out that guy that occasionally wears a Tavros shirt that has been going to a lot of the same club meetings and stuff all semester was actually Nucleose all along. who’d have guessed?
definitely panic if there’s caviar
Me. Fo' riz. Check the head canon thread if you don't believe me.
I heard Sburban Jungle as a ringtone a few days ago, but the girl who it came from turned out to have no idea what Homestuck was, and simply downloaded it from some database of ringtones made of youtube videos. Her curiosity on the subject seemed to die the moment my explanation revealed it was a webcomic, at which point she decided to change the ring.
If I was wearing my hat, I'd give them a tip of the hat. If not, I'd probably just nod at it in approval. ^_^
I would try very hard to resist the urge toand if if was not too inconvinient for anybody to grab thier attention I would make eye contact, smile politely, point at thier shirt and say "Let me tell you about homestuck". Hopefully they would get the refference and not think I was a recruiter for some crazy religion.
Nod so that my shades reflect the stars
Or just take one of my hands out of my pocket to give a thumbs up
If they're wearing a troll shirt I'd play oblivious and ask them if that's their zodiac sign and then talk about zodiacs for a while, then right before leaving utter a choice quote and walk off
Pretty good, but not over yet.
Think once, think twice, think derp.
I've had a couple of people come up to me and start babbling about Homestuck as soon as they saw my time hoodie. It was more awkward than anything else...
