Whenever I try to start it, instead of starting up with the handle I put in, it automatically gives me "pesterClientxxx". Any reason why?

Are you sure you're hitting "OK" and not "CANCEL?" If so, what's your handle? You may be trying to use a nick that's already in use.

Yeah, I'm running Windows 7 Premium 64-bit and it idles in Connecting for a while, randomly disconnecting and telling me to try again, and every now and then it tells me my chumhandle (no matter what the bloody hell it is) is taken already.

Could it possibly still be in your tray? Have you tried clicking your tray icon?

I just thought of this: are you sure another version isn't running in your tray?

It happened the very first time, but I made sure via the tray and Task Manager that it wasn't running anywhere else. There are no other programs it boots up other than pesterchum.exe, right?

Hmm did you install in Program Files? It may just be that you can't install it in Program Files without causing some issues! A lot of people are having this issue, I could see that being the problem.

I'm hoping idling won't be too much of a problem with this client. Hopefully everyone can be nice and share handles, or at least leave the handle if they've been on it for a while and have been asked.

Oh wow this is amazing. Sorry to say but puts the older version to shame.
I went with the Trollian theme and even changed the PesterChum icon to the Trollian one. I feel so badass.
This is a link to the download for the icon. Just put it somewhere where you won't touch it, right click PesterChum, go to properties, and change the icon by browsing for the icon where you left it.
Just trying to be a little, um, generally helpful.

I got the .exe downloader and put them in the default, C:\Pesterchum. Failue.
I got the .exe downloader and put them in the place for 32-bit programs, Program Files (x86). Failure.

Every time I start it up I get an error message that says "This application has failed to start because the application configuration is incorrect." Then it tells me to reinstall but then nothing changes.

It's not a fix, but what happens if you tick the "default profile" button before hitting OK?
