I feel dumb,but I can't figure out Aradia's Ribbit thing, I want to say "Boo" randomly, but... I just can't manage to get it to work. ._. Can someone explain it to me?

Using random replace:

You can also imitate Aradia's random "ribbits" in between words:

Regexp: "\s" Replace with: " ribbit ", " ", " ", " ", " ", " ", etc....

where " " is just a blank space added a bunch of times. (You can see how many blank spaces you've added by clicking on the list.) You have to add the spaces because each entry has the same chance of being selected. (Yes, I know this could be improved.) If you add " ribbit " and 9 spaces, " ribbit " will have a 1/10 chance of being picked.

Without the quotation marks, obviously.
You could also use a regular space instead of "\s".

I honestly haven't seen them contribute anything of value, so don't worry about it I think.

Also, the reason that they can get away with it is they access pesterchum through the mirc client, rather than using the pesterchum skin like most users!

I had a big problem:

So, I was on the T or D server as illuminatingVisionary, one of my fantrolls.

I was dared to talk like a FLAMBOYANT BODYBUILDER for a while, so I entered *₣LEX ₣LEX* to replace spaces randomly. It worked for a while then I decided to change it so I found that the Quirk menu no longer opened.

So I had to play with the user files and after an annoying amount of work I managed to fix it.

I still have no idea what caused it, maybe the special characters screwed up the random replace? But it completely disabled my ability to open the quirk menu on that handle.

I can't switch profiles for whatever reason anymore, like I click on "switch" and it does nothing.

I'm not sure if this has been addressed somewhere already, but I've read through the last few pages and I read the FAQ on the front page, but I didn't see this mentioned. Still, apologies in advance if I'm just blind.

This problem started several days ago.

Basically, I will be using an account, and periodically, I will get logged and receive a message that says "this account is already in use, choose another." These are not canon handles, they are my own. After a few minutes, I'm able to log back in, but it's pretty disruptive and it's starting to get worse. This morning, I seem to get logged out every 5 minutes. It's pretty ridiculous. I know at least one other user with this problem, but it does not appear to be widespread.

Edit: It seems to be especially problematic with one of my accounts. My main, for whatever reason, seems to be stable at the moment, but it has had problems, too.

Yes. Any kind of weird typing quirk (including colours) used regularly is forbidden because it is annoying to read. Of course you can still use it in special occasions (like when making a joke), just don't use it all the time.

And seriously, it is an important rule. If you'd see some of the unreadable typing quirks used on Pesterchum, you'd be happy people aren't allowed to use them on the forums.

This is also my cry out to the Pesterchum userbase: please keep your quirks readable. Else nobody is going to bother putting up with you when you pester them (especially canon handles).

Guys, Wednesday is well long gone, and I don't mean to complain or anything but I'm still getting the "Failed: Connection Closed" error and on many occasions, I've ended up DC'ing in the middle of a conversation. (I hope that doesn't count as a quirk, that was more for emphasis :\)

I thought you guys would fix it by Wednesday but it seems that this issue is still here and it's sort of wreaking havoc, especially since those interrupted conversations I've been having lately were role-play sessions, and then the person I'm talking to has to stop right there because my connection keeps spazzing out. :[ I really hope this gets solved soon. It's kind of giving me a head ache.

It sounds to me like there are server issues going on. Perhaps the upgrade is causing some transition issues? Who knows. I'm not even sure if the server upgrades have been made.

Anyways to answer a few questions:

Insani: Most likely something to do with weird unicode characters or something caused a corruption problem, stopping your profile file from being read properly by Pesterchum.

potatato: I'll assume the problem persists after completely restarting Pesterchum. If this is true, then it's probably a corrupt profile save. Or perhaps a handle doesn't match up with a file name. Have you been manually editing any profile files in a text editor?

Captain Whosit: Most likely you're having bad connection issues. Do you have a bad internet connection/is your internet unusually slow? The "this account is already in use, choose another" message is because Pesterchum didn't tell the server you were disconnecting (because of network problems), thus the server still believes you're connected. After a few minutes it realizes the problem and kills the "ghost" (as it's called) and you can get back on the account.

arella9977: Read my response to Captain Whoisit above. Plus, I don't believe the server upgrade has been made yet, so the max capacity of 800 might still exist.
