    PESTERCHUM 3.14 Development thread

    This is the development thread for Pesterchum! The user thread is here: http://www.mspaforums.com/showthread...62#post4791462

    WE NEED MAC DEVELOPERS! If you are a Mac user and a programmer and want to help, please PM me!

    The software is open source and licensed under the GPL (as one of the components is GPL itself). You can get the source code here:

    or just clone it straight from git: git://github.com/illuminatedwax/pesterchum.git

    If you want to contribute, there's a TODO in there as well as some bugs, I'm sure! To contribute, just send me a tarball of your git archive and i'll inspect the changes and merge them if they work! I will be releasing updates to the software, so your work will not go to waste!

    One way is to copy/paste one theme directory to a new one, name it what you like, then edit the style.js and image files to what you want. Another way is to createa a blank directory, use the "inherit" property in a new style.js file, and work from there.     would it be possible to make profiles remember mood in addition to theme and quirks and all those other things?


    also, has there been any progress on the mac front?

    There has!

    But you'll have to wait a bit longer, as far as I know there's nothing stable yet.

    Will we still be able to contact chums from Shinmera's client, or does this run on an entirely new server?

    Both, actually.

    It's a new, more reliable server dedicated entirely to Pesterchum, but Shin's client also is connected to it.

    A) Adding the ability to perform admin commands in a memo might be good. (Kick/Ban/etc). Given it runs through IRC, this shouldn't be too hard.
    B) You need to repoint the QDB submission to "pesterchum.net/qdb/<data>" asap.

    The ability to kick someone is possible (it shows up that they've been banned but it's really just kicking them)

    Banning someone...I don't know why he chose not to add it. Probably because it might end up badly.

    I don't like the idea of banning people -- just make your memo hidden if you don't want to be disturbed!

    You can actually kick, though, and OP people as well.

    I've gotten a few fixes in the last few days actually. Hopefully EVERYONE upgrades when I release it!

    But what if the memo was something that you wanted whoever wanted to join to join, but some extremely persistent troll comes in, which you can't get rid of because he will just rejoin when you kick! Also, at least add voice and channel mute functions.

    I'm pretty sure irc has capabilities for invite-only mode channels. Perhaps streamline the #clickonthis code to work with that?

    I'm developing a theme by editing typewriter, and all I did while changing the script was change it from going "protective" and "offline" to going "here" and "there", each with their own images. Now when I try to launch the theme it says, "Theme Error: Expecting , delimiter: line 103 column 18 (character 4223)" When I looked in that spot, it was the space directly before "here". This is my style code:


    Can anyone help solve the problem?

    Would it be possiblr to make a droid and ipod version of it?

    Or at least droid since it is microsoft stuff basically?

    It is physically impossible. Pocket-sized computing devices have insufficient javagoogles.

    You need a comma after the preceding "}" character.

    Unfortunately, you can't do what you're trying to do, which is add new moods for "here" and "there." You cannot add moods to Pesterchum since it requires all clients to have the exact same mood.

    You can modify the mood icons all you want, but only people using the theme you created will see the different ones.

    you can rename the existing moods, butother people will see the original mood

    You would have to actually edit the program (there is an official dictionary of moods hard-coded into the program), and even then, your client would still only send the ID # of the mood (e.g. 1 is "rancorous"), and if the client didn't recognize the ID #, it would simply list you as "chummy." Or worse yet, you could reuse an old ID # and other clients would see you as a different mood than you saw yourself.

    if i uploaded bros n dogs chat would someone modify it so it used ms comic sans and was named as bros and dogs chat

    I use a Mac and am currently in the process of learning Java. I'll try to help if you can't find a more experienced developer.

    I might also try to find a workaround by installing a linux version of the newest Java release on a Mac.
