I'd prefer a single, male child, to balance the gender ratio. Adding another main character's child as a female just unbalances it again, even if in addition to a male. Giving new combos is fine in my book, but not children in the "Oh, I raised them from when they were a grub" sense of child. Even using only 2 trolls' DNA seems wrong; for starters, there haven't been any like that before. Basically, new female characters are fine, new female characters who are literally the children of the adult generation and are a part of Emiiiie and DJ's generation are just unbalancing to the fragile ratio; note that even Andrew has kept it balanced.

Yes, I am, but Humans and (presumably half-trolls) are not sexless. I may be ruining your immersion, but you do realize that, to humans, the trolls do have genders. Not gender roles, but they have genders, even if vestigial. I'd rather not write an essay on human perception of fictional races, so I'll just say that, to humans, there is a difference. In story, there isn't a difference at all; I understand that. But to the readers, there is, even if unconsciously perceived, a difference between trolls that are referred to by masculine pronouns, and trolls referred to by feminine pronouns. There is of course the matter of Humans in story, but that holds the same reasoning; to humans there is a difference, while to trolls, there isn't. The reader-base is human, so there is a difference.
