You guys are doing it backwards. Absolutely no point searching for stuff you want on account of the aforementioned tomfoolery.

You need to put up one of your in pokémon (such as version exclusives) and just request what you're looking for. Or just trade with people you know, whatever.

I agree with Halos. This way is much quicker and much more reliable, and is how I usually use GTS. I find that you can get a lot of Pokemon by just offering a Pokemon like Eevee.

I kinda wanted to use Pokesav, since I'm not a competitive battler and such and just wanted to get a togepi and raise it to a Togekiss and use it in game, but I'll just deal with it and use Drifblim

I don't use action replay but I tend to make my pokemon more 'authentic' by using that weird GTS thing

I forgo the name of it but basically you upload a .pkm file (the same kind they use for Pokesav), change your DNS to the provided address, and go to the GTS. the uploiaded pokemon will drop into your game. (Most sites that do this have all of the event pokes too so if you missed them or just want them, you can get authentic event pokemon)


Some versions of this let you do this in reverse. You send a pokemon to this GTS thing, it gets sent back as an error, but saves the pokemon's .pkm file on your computer.

Now you can load that file on Pokesav and edit it, it's more 'authentic' since you're just editing the real pokemon. It keeps it's personality value, ID, secret ID, stuff like that. Then you just save and re-upload it.

Water is one of the best types in the game, actually

And... Poison is one of the worst and is significantly more lethal at the beginning of the game than at the end.

Really if GameFreak wanted to they could give the Gym Leaders PROPERLY CONSTRUCTED TEAMS and make them legitimately difficult but that is too much for them unfortunately.

Honestly, if Game Freak had the guts to give every gym leader six Pokemon, including ones that you cannot possibly have for yourself, Pokemon would be significantly more challenging and more fun. You would really feel like you were playing against masters in their field with whatever crap you manage to scrounge up on the way there.

It probably has to do with the abundance of grass and electric types in this game.

Most water gyms are pretty easy to sweep with just your grass type. But that's POORLY CONSTRUCTED TEAMS for ya.

for gen 5....if we remove the starter

four water types are bulky (seismitoad, carracosta, jellicent, and alomomola)

three are fast (simipour, basculin, and swanna)

but almost none of them particularly excel at their jobs alone, and only carracosta and basculin actually bring power to the table

and a good number of them have crippling 4x grass or electric weaknesses

gen 5 is a bad place to have average stats

That's why you break the rules and let those gym leaders search for the best fucking Pokemon of their type. I want to see a water gym leader that leads with Drizzle Politoad.
