It's a disease that your Pokemon can randomly catch. If your Pokemon has it Nurse Joy will identify it. When a Pokemon is infected it will gain double the EV's during battle.
Pokerus is a "disease" that can be randomly acquired by battling wild pokemon. The word is a portmanteau of "Pokemon" and "virus." It has no harmful effects, though; what it does is double the number of EVs gained by an infected pokemon from KOing an opponent (but not from items like Protein). Once a pokemon is infected it can spread to other pokemon in your party. After a certain amount of time, though, a pokemon stops being contagious (but still enjoys the EV bonus). The infectious period is suspended while a pokemon is in storage, so you can keep at least one contagious pokemon "on ice" to infect new pokemon that you want to get that training boost.
Like ArmsAreLoud said, Nurse Joy will inform you when healing your team if you've caught the pokerus. Infected pokemon will have a light purple "PKRS" status indicator on their summary screen.

does anybody else laugh really hard when a shorts kid throws out a level 60 caterpie
i'm going with any pokemon who has has Pokerus is not allowed to be used in those national tournaments
no I laugh every time Youngster Joey calls me to talk about his Rattata, and very occasionally calls you to fight

pokerus is entirely acceptable and even encouraged to share in trades all the time, since it's both a legal ingame way to speed up ev training (similar to methods such as the macho brace and its variants, which even stack with the pokerus bonus) and that it doesn't actually provide any more advantage over somebody who didn't use it
the jury is still out on pokesav generated pokemon with legal movesets and stats
I somehow caught the Pokerus in my SoulSilver version, before I restarted. Shit was awesome. I went to the pokemon center one day and nurse joy was all "YO BITCH DIS POKEYCHU GOTTA COLD."
Streets ahead.
I get it like 1 in every 4 games and it is sweet! You can really see the difference in stats even in a normal, not caring about EVs run. +5s and +4s abound!
Yeah, Pokerus doesn't make your pokemon any stronger than it would be otherwise, it just makes it gain EVs faster. The total cap is still the same, so at level 100 there isn't going to be any difference at all. You can get bigger stat gains early on but you'll hit the maximum EVs sooner, too.
well I don't EV train my pokemon, so I happy not getting it
I thought i'd update you guys on my search for the lucky egg;

If anyone wants the Pokerus, I'll be glad to spread it, but it's 5th gen only.

Makes grinding in general easier, shit.

By making you earn more EV's from the same Pokemon Pokerus does, in fact, make your stats better. With the way EV's work it is better to get more of the same; if you spread them out too thin by getting EV's from too many different Pokemon you won't get very many stat ups from them at all!
Yeah, but it doesn't actually increase the total number of EVs a pokemon can get. And there's no difference other than speed/efficiency if you are doing specifically planned EV training as opposed to just fighting whatever random Pokemon you encounter. If you are specifically training Attack, for example, you'll only be fighting pokemon that give you Attack EVs whether you have Pokerus or not. It just makes it take less time to reach your goal (still a very good thing).
And I believe Pokerus does stack with other items that increase your EVs earned in battles, like the Macho Brace.
thank you every one for explaining to me what the Pokerus is and does.

Does anyone else think Pokewood/Pokestar Studios looks absolutely awesome?
I think it will distract me from playing the game. Not that that is a bad thing though.
It seems really fun, but I my favorite side game of all Pokemon games is still the Pokéathlon
thought I'd update you guys on my quest for the lucky egg......

To tell you the truth, I think b2/w2 are going to be too complex. Any one agree or disagree?
I don't think its too complected, maybe there will be a B+W3 to continue the story, but I hope they remake R/S/E and blue/red/green/yellow

I am not even sure what you mean by "complicated"
The games themselves have never been complicated, the only thing that is even somewhat complicated is the labyrinth of mind games that is competitive Pokemon but even that is nothing compared to games that were made with the intention of being played competitively.
