Yeah, that was sort of how I felt when I turned a dim map (not my own) to fullbright. I hope the dlc (tomorrow!) has ways to add custom lighting, or there's a good way to double back and add the lighting in hammer.

Also paint doesn't show up in fullbright.

You'll be able to export your maps into hammer, and then reimport them to the steam workshop

Also fullbright is generally terrible for everything that isn't just a quick "I made this impossible box" demonstration.

It makes the textures look horrible in general.

Please ensure that no aperture science testing apparatus comes into contact with any fluids whether bodily or otherwise.

In other news I made a map. It sucks because I am tire. Bed bed. NAArrrrgg

I must admit, I was kinda thinking Valve would screw this up somehow. But they didn't.

I'm the first here to post a map? It's even of moderate quality, if I say so myself.

The level editor is fantastic. That's all I have to say.

    Here's my first shitty map.

EDIT: And my second one. Slightly less shitty! But not a puzzle.

Re: [Portal 2] Map Making Initiative

I was making a Pinball map with the edgeless safety cube behind a glass wall but I didn't have much luck because my computer can't handle the level editor entirely despite having no problems with the game itself. I really look forward to continuing it if/when I get a new video card or driver. Has anyone else had problems with the map maker?
Here's a spoiler containing my unfinished level, which basically was just the ball dispensing machine.

My plan for the bumpers probably would have involved faith plates? Can faith plates be controlled by buttons? If not I would have had the player use hard light bridges to navigate the ball. Someday this concept will be seen through by me.

Credit to Shortpacked! for my Avatar, which is Clock King, which I colored green to make into a felt member because clock motif, but then ashdenej realized I did a weak job and gave me a better version without my even having to ask.
Your chumhandle is thricelyContemplated, and you speak with threee repetitions as oppposed to the usual two.

Re: [Portal 2] Map Making Initiative

How long do you think it's going to be until someone recreates Portal 1 with the level editor+Hammer combo? (I'm at least giving a couple of the maps a try, I'd have no idea how to make the rotating of the portal guns on their pedestals. I do know, however, that I'd have to replace the high energy pellets with lasers)

I'd give that a try. Maybe its possible to merge all of the levels into 1? unless theres a size limit? :O

That feel when Portal 2 goes on sale and you buy it.

That feel when you notice that it isn't downloading fast.

That feel when it's EIGHT FUCKING HOURS LATER.

That feel when the dorm's shitty connection drops to 130 KB/S

    Fuck that feel.

Hopefully they will expand on the connections interface, and give us timers and such.

Don't be hard on yourself, puzzles are much much harder than any other kind of level creation.

Visible timers? Because you can give buttons delayed reactions if you want.

That could work. I just need to make a little room off to the side that has buttons connected to each other to produce a constant stream of clicks. Wait... no you can't hook buttons to buttons. Also now it won't compile maps. *sign*

If you have Hammer installed, uninstall it, Validate your Portal 2 cache files, and reinstall Hammer.

I wish the grid was smaller, 1283is way too big. 643 is a lot better.
