I usually pick one aspect of a person (if I don't know anything about them, I just pick one of their posts or even their name) then I focus on that and hold it in my mind while I mess around with instruments and scales until something sticks. Then I run with it, and once I've put a track or two down I can usually figure out how to extend it deliberately. It's definitely not the best method because it depends on me stumbling upon good ideas instead of just knowing what instruments and scales I need to fit the mood I want, but it gets the job done.
Oh what the balls, how did I miss you and Blueberry? I've put you (and everyone else who posted) in the queue. I think. If I left you out, please call it to my attention because it's more likely due to my complete inability to read than a seething personal hatred of you.
Kickass job as usual Traikan
I have media all day long tomorrow, so I'll have time to crank out some simple covers. I have some plans, but we'll see what I end up with
OH CAN I HAVE ONE!?
I wish in real life whenever you get a theme song it would actually play. Like if you are about to do/or in the middle of doing something awesome, it plays in the background where everyone can hear.
If only, oh if only. Then again, it would be kind of obnoxious if you were AWESOME 24/7.
There'd be a mute button.
I am so bad at reading.
Okay, I updated the queue again and in theory everyone who has requested a theme is accounted for.
Holy freaking baseballs this is great. I am going to have to pile even more of things on top of that queue by making a REQUEST of some kind. Something LOUD and INTENSE, with loud drums and dramatic stings and obnoxious instrumentation. Intimidating and villainous and telling the listener "I am going to KICK YOUR ASS with MUSIC" and then proceeding to kick their ass with music.
Which is what I am hella gonna request right now in the form of a polite question: "Will you please compose a theme tune for me that is loud and intense and full of loud drums and dramatic stings and obnoxious instrumentation, which is intimidating and villainous and telling the listener that I am going to kick their ass with music and then proceeding to kick their ass with music?"
holy shit this thread is too good to be true
EDIT: also sixsided varktheme is even more amazing than the concept of a d6 hamster maybe
ugh i don't remember what the bass line opening is from
from a video game i think??? mario maybe? super mario sunshine? hmmmmmmmmm i dunno but it's definitely from something. anyways just chalk it up to a reference to whatever it is when someone figures it out
anyways i'm super excited eeeeeee
Aw yiss
My song is so. freaking. sweet.
Fuck yeah rainbows
I can't wait for this all to be an actual album (or more than that I guess, since there are so many of us)

Getting more people to do album art isn't a bad idea since I'm pretty unreliable when it comes to producing stuff.
I did try to draw something for Capital Z today but it turned out wonky.
Okay for the LMMS thing if you want to do something interesting you probably want to grab:
* some LADSPA plugins (under the "optional" header - the audacity guys have a good compliation)
* there are a bunch of extra instruments on the LMMS share platform (download the .xpf files and stick them in the "presets" folder in your LMMS directory)
* If you're running on Windows, most VSTs should be fine. If you're not, like me, well... let's just say it's kind of a thing, 'k?
* Due to the above issue, I prefer soundfonts for "real instrument" purposes. Recommended soundfonts include Squidfont Orchestral and GeneralUser Synth (although the latter has a non-commercial-only license).
* Please don't use the Chorium soundfont's string samples or the GeneralUser soundfont's guitar sounds, they're kind of especially terrible.
* The same goes for LMMS's included samples, which are .ogg compressed - if you want decent drums you can download the drum kit samples (not the VST, the samples work fine on their own) from the SDFX site. Yeah, I know, they're provided for use in the VST, but just extract them into the Samples directory and they work perfectly fine when loaded into AudioFileProcessor.
OKAY SO... INSPIRATIONS FOR SERAPH'S THEME. You can pick and choose whatever you like here, this is just random stuff.
At various points in my life, people have suggested both Bittersweet Symphony and Staring at the Sun (I know, VASTLY DIFFERENT THINGS.)
Keep It In the Family is my current favorite song; I could listen to it pretty much all day. This one, too. I am also a fan of E.S. Posthumus and Apocalyptica.
My favorite Homestuck albums are Medium and The Felt.
Basically, I love big, epic orchestral stuff; violins and flutes are my favorite instruments.
About me, uh...
As a forumer I'm mostly that guy who hangs out and occasionally posts fanfic in the fanfic thread I guess...? I showed up to PAXEast? As a person uh... i'm a would-be professional writer and grad student...?
I play the trumpet in case that helps with anything.
I like almost all kinds of music, from rock to metal to electronic. I don't really like hip-hop.
Current album I'm listening to
My favorite style right now would have to be chiptune though.
sig quotes I guess? (one of them)
Aww, CT's theme is so happy and wonderful; it makes me want to dance!
Also, you play the trumpet, Namboto? Awesome! *trumpet buddies*
