Alright so my Eridan and I made a makeshift photoshoot happen at a Gathering we had yesterday, so spoilered is a better picture that includes both of our March cosplays and a pic of my normal Karkat.

If nothing has been planned, I suggest somewhere in the lower hallways, since they are usually pretty empty, and outside is usually chockfull of meetings. If no one objects, that is.
I can post here where exactly is a good place tomorrow, once I get to the con and scope it out.
I just hope someone has already decided, because I've never planned a gathering before....

    In other news, my costumes!
Here's my beautiful Doc Scratch one, with a massive head. I made it in 2-3 afternoons, so I consider it resembling his head at all to be an accomplishment, even though it is horribly out of proportion.over here!

But at the gathering, (and during all of Saturday) I will be in my Karkat cosplay, with a few of my friends. I don't have any non- terrible pictures of it, but I do have a video, of my masterpiece, the Clawsickle.
The quality is really shitty because I took it on my iPod, but hopefully you get the point. It can move.
Nobody really does the Clawsickle, so I thought I would. I wish I had better videos/pictures because I really am proud of it. I will make a tutorial after Fanime, so we can all see more sickles than just Homes Smell Ya Later. As awesome as HSYL can be, there's been so many that it overwhelms the individual craftsmanship.

Anyway, if you see me, be sure to say hi!
pffffft i remember you oh god, you deserve so many hearts i'm happy i know exactly who you are now xD you really made a fantastic Karkat and i'm really sorry your doc scratch costume broke!

Fanime was awesome, I was surprised at the HUGE turnout.

I was the Vriska with a party consisting of Karkles/DocScratch(The one with the huge head), Kanaya (West), Terezi, the tallest (and Asian) Sollux and the Weeping Angel.

I'll post a picture of a group of us when I can but this was how my cosplay turned out:

Let me know if you saw me and who you were!

Heya, a Kanaya-cosplayer-to-be here. I'll be frank; I've never cosplayed before. Yet I've decided that I'm going to tag along to the London MCM Expo this October. This'll give me enough time to sort everything out and whatnot.

I know how to do the horns - I've got a template cut out and ready to sculpt on with Model Magic and I've got the acrylics and primer for it - and I've got my eye on a basic red-pink maxi skirt which will do the trick for a first-time cosplay. My hair's short as it is, so I'm thinking of buying a non-permanent dye and gelling it up on the day.

However, as I'm in the UK I have no idea whatsoever where I could by some Model Magic from. I know it can be relatively cheap (£3-4 for a small bag), but I can't ever remember seeing it on the high street, and I was wondering if anyone knows of a good shop/chain or website in the UK where I could purchase/order it from.

Also I must say there are some fantastic cosplays here. I bow down to you all.

Just a reminder to everyone using plaster to make stuff: make sure you wear an N95 mask for airborne particulates! Don't end up with silicosis through cosplay! Clean up with a damp cloth and wear your mask, make sure the plaster dust doesn't float around, and if you go to sand your piece, wear your mask for that. Silicosis is cumulative; the more you use plaster, the more crap will begin clogging your lungs. Also, don't pour any of it down the drain; plaster will clog that too. TIPS
I did not know Silicosis was a thing Well, considering I've already been kicking up a lot of plaster dust building all these props, with no regard for this, I think it's time I buy a mask. Thanks for helping an amateur cosplayer not kill themself in the process!

I'm a jeweller, and when I was at school, I was casting with plaster molds all the time. My profs could not talk enough about all their dead/dying colleagues who were casting before they knew about this and oh boy. It might be smart to get a spray bottle and spray it around after you're done, too- the dust tends to float around. Glad I could help someone.

I went as Rose on Friday, and was sad to see that most of the Homestuckers appeared on Saturday while I was doing a different costume, so I decided to do Rose again on Sunday. Best. Choice. Evah.

Here is a whole bunch of crap.

I was March Eridan (and Terezi when I got cold) on Saturday, and Tavros on Sunday.
And I had so much fun, mainly falling down the stairs and offering parma vviolets out of my rainbow bucket.

I've not managed to find Model Magic anywhere either, but Fimo Air Light seems to be a pretty good clay for horns if you can find that! I got a packet of it from Hobbycraft. It's really light and doesn't seem to break too easily, and it's not too expensive either.

Ah, thank you ever so much for the suggestion! Thankfully the stationer's in town stocks it, so I'll nip out and buy some rather soon.

More work in progress shots of my DaveSprite! The final's going to have white bodypaint and also wings and the gut sword, of course. I'm wondering if I should cut down on the fluff on the feather ruff though? (I personally love all the fluff, but I'd love all the feedback I can get.)

here's a more full body shot Right Here my only regret is that the only pants I could find that were the right shade were skinny jeans.

edit: yessss these con pictures are all wonderful, keep them coming!

So, I went to Comicon on Sunday and had a real great time! I didn't really get much pictures but,

    I'm pretty sure it's a bit obvious I was Jade. I'm not sure who the other cosplayers were but they were beautiful. * 7 * Ahhh, first convention and first cosplay I did. Made me feel all giddy on the inside to get recognized by other people, y'know? ; w ;

Hey, uhh, I guess I'll post here and hopefully not be boo'ed out?

I was the Droog on Friday at AN, as well as the short-haired Gamzee with all the Faygo (I couldn't afford a wig in time, as I'd just gotten back from Ireland and pretty much spent every last penny I had there), and the Vriska-Outfit John on Sunday. I totally loved meeting everyone and hanging out with them and hope I didn't come off awkward or anything like that, because I'm always worrying about crap like that. Everyone seemed super friendly and I ended up hanging out with Yokaiy, Nannasprite, Mr. Egbert, and Normally (Wise-guy John) pretty much all weekend.

Anyway, I spotted the props/accessories for sale at the beginning, and figured I'd suggest some glasses which are - while they're quite a bit for props - amazing quality: http://www.artfire.com/modules.php?n...uct_id=3165837 for Sollux and http://www.artfire.com/modules.php?n...uct_id=3315043 for Terezi. I have the Sollux ones myself, and a friend of mine has the Terezi ones. Just figured I'd drop the links incase anyone wanted to get some shades that are really nice (I wear my pair like, any time I go out).

I still need to dump the few pictures I managed to take at the con somewhere and upload them, so I'll likely be back soon. Okay bye.

Hey that's me in there (Timetable Dave)! You were the only Jade I saw the whole weekend so lots of kudos to that. That's neat you had a good first con, this was a good one for me too (technically not my first but my first serious one). I almost didn't go as Dave for Sunday but it was such a great success Saturday.

I also adore fluff, so asking me may be wrong but, mygods I love it.

I was so tempted to take (I almost said jack one, but refrained as it's almost a horrible pun, even if I actually say that "orz) one of them but I think my fear of clowns actually kicked in (Trust me. Two years of Ronald McDonald and you'd be scared of them too). That and mum might've questioned.

And those glasses are gorgeous, but I'm poor sadly.

Aww I didn't see you there! I saw those John and Dave cosplayers though. xD
Were you at our fail gathering? Haha! I was the Gamzee with the Karkat on Saturday.

But yes at Phoenix Comicon, the Homestuck gathering, we all met on some stairs across the street from the convention center. You know, having Homestuck fun. Drawing with chalk, eating pie and other things. Until this officer lady comes up yelling "NO STOP THIS RIGHT NOW! Do you know that drawing with chalk on the sidewalk is considered graffiti!" Yeeeeah then she kept yelling at us or whatever and told us to move. We went inside but it was more fun outside drawing with chalk. xD
I loved meeting all of you guys though!

Late on the AN train, but here are the few pictures I could snag from my table: http://s1080.photobucket.com/albums/...011%20Cosplay/ I was the Fef and Jade in half of these.

...And as an amendment to my previous fin tutorial, while they do stay on the whole day, they greatly impair your hearing. But so does three days at con, so.

@iglw: Yes! Big copies of the few group shots I made it to! Thank you so much! And so many more photos. Awesome. Oooo, and there was a ghost Aradia on Friday? ...And who were you cosplaying?

    @yokaiy: sorry I didn't stick around longer.

@Crystal Blackpaws: I'm pretty sure I missed you and am very sad about that. Are you going to rewear this to FanExpo or the Cosplay Picnic?

@Path: Your group looked great. Way too classy for the rest of the Homestuckers.

@Chesheh: You photos all turned out well. Love the one I'm guessing is the Dr, skipping with the blur. And you're the only person I can find who's got pics of me in Arist Alley. Thanks And thanks again for the chalk!
