Yep. That made about as much sense as I figured it would.

Guys
Look at this image in the latest episode at 6:05 (pause it)
Now look at this
The image is repeated again around 9:29, much like Homestuck assets are reused as callbacks
We already know there are Homestuck fans on the Adventure Time team, it could be a deliberate reference like Document 413

BMO has an active processor.
And a weird voice. What's that accent?

I'm not sure. I spent a good solid hour discussing with my brother (who I got into the show :3 ) where this episode fit into the chronology of adventure time. The first time we see the worms and king worm is evicted I think. On the surface, it looks like this episode could have followed on directly from those events. But that doesn't explain the presence of the litch and the other things.
I think it could be two things... either the episode DOES take place after "Evicted" but "Evicted"'s true place on the timeline is later on somehow... or that this episode does take place earlier on and Finn has known about flame princess and the litch for longer than he lets on.
On a different note, does anybody notice some possible foreshadowing to Finn losing his arm and getting a robot replacement? This episode is at least the second time where we've seen images of Finn with a robotic left arm. Although I'm not sure if AT could go as far as to have Finn's arm get cut off. Although I guess There was that episode where all the princess' got cut up to make the monster wife... Hmm.
I would not be surprised to see Finn lose his arm, I'd just expect him to somehow get it back later in the episode.
I hadn't really thought about the chronology thing at all. If it's the same encounter as in Evicted, which seems likely, that is indeed trippy. I get the feeling it'd take a fair amount of time poring over all the shenanigans that go on in the show to figure out how it all fits together, probably to reveal that the show's intentionally anachronistic. Evicted taking place later seems easier to manage, since unless I'm forgetting something, that just raises the issue of Marceline's introduction, and I don't think she's been a part of any major changes to the, uh. Plot? Aside from other episodes that also have her in them. I'm pretty sure making sense of it would require jumbling more than just one episode, though.
On a sort of related note, Goliad came on after this episode. I wonder if she'll ever show up again.
She already has.
And maybe FP and Finn were already living a happy life together, with sexual and relationship health, and PB just couldn't handle seeing the man she loves with someone else, so she constructed the entire show as a masturbation fantasy where Finn wants her and can't have her, and the one Finn tries to be with can never truly love him physically.
And then the last shot is her spankin' it and a blue keyper.
No, wait, maybe that should be with Marceline and Bubblegum to fully fit the Lesbian fantasy thing.
Hey guys.
Do you get it.
Come on, I can't be the only David Lynch fan here.
...especially after BMO Noire...
EDIT: Just watched the Worm King again. He says, " I know that guy!"
The Worm King is the second time he is hypnotized by the worm king.

Could be he recognises the worm king from just before he was put under the spell.

Running away from home is kind of her shtick now, I think. Pretty sure she says something about doing it "again" in the last episode we saw her in.
I'm still leaning towards they likely fucked it up on purpose, just to bug anyone who bothered thinking about it. You've doomed us all, GG7. Doomed us to momentary rumination of meaningless bullshit, and this is something Pendleton Ward does not forgive lightly.
Pendleton's a weird name.
