Homestuck Title Screen

Hi folks. You know how in the video game CD rack flash you can click on the Problem Sleuth disc to wind up at a hidden PS title screen?

Well, I made one for Homestuck:

This was partly a project to sharpen my OpenGL skills, so I wasn't terribly concerned with making it portable across a lot of browsers. As such it won't work in IE, Opera, or Safari at all. Instead you'll get an error message and instructions for how to view it.

A couple people helped me out with the assets, listed here. In particular I gotta give major props to Plazmataz for letting me use the volume 5 song that gave me the idea for this in the first place.

Hey cool, the new Act 6 opener uses the same music (Homestuck Anthem)! And just a reminder, I've been retouching this lately. Proper start button click detection should work this weekend. Oh also if you're looking for something flashier to show to prospective readers, try this instead.

Meh, it's only spoiler-y if you understand the context. Without contest it's just a gorgeous preview of what's to come, I think.

Yeah, that was kind of the goal. Besides, Homestuck already does this all the damn time. We see Jade a couple times before she's introduced, for example, and Zazzerpan's disembodied hand shows up in [S] WV: Ascend.

Took a long time to load (maybe a percentage indicator would help, like in Homestuck?), but it was simply beautiful.
Yes, spoilers all over, but who cares, nobody's actually going to see this before they read the comic. Probably.

I love this. All those rotating things - the different lands, Derse and Prospit, and the zodiac in the background all with their motion and countermotion and different planes and angles of rotation look incredible.

And I agree that it's only spoilery if you understand the context. Most of the spoilers are from the troll session, too, so if someone sees the title screen before starting to read, then they'll easily have forgotten those brief senseless glimpses by the time Act Five is actually reached.

Props on using a song I really like that doesn't get very much attention because it's not quite remix material.

Your title screen, however, is about 100x more epic in every way.

The planets rotating around, and the kids posed there are some of my favorite bits. And the whole thing is a nostalgia trip as I remember stuff when it pops up from act 1 or 2 even.

And I'm really happy with the music choice, nice touch of epic and small? If that makes any sense. It stands out of the way of the pictures but it makes them way more epic then they would be on their own.

It's probably a driver issue. Most people who can't see it turn out to have outdated drivers.

Have you tried installing system software updates? I'm not sure how I can make the instructions any clearer...

Will this do? It's obviously much brighter than in the animation (darkened to rgb(0.34, 0.36, 0.4)) but this way you can decide for yourself how bright or dark you want it without losing too much detail.
