So I was sitting down not making music when I said hey why am I sitting down not making music when I could be sitting down making music /every day/.
So, I decided I wanted to do a song a day, but I also wanted it to be themed.
So my theme is a barebones game soundtrack for and RPG.
18 days to make 18 tracks.
The barebones list of tracks to make:
1. Title screen
2. hero theme
3. overworld theme
4. battle theme
5. victory theme
6. town theme
7. shop theme
8. dungeon theme
9. boss battle theme
10. game over theme
11. crisis theme
12. villain theme
13. important boss battle
14. sad scene
15. serious moment
16. final dungeon
17. final boss battle
18. ending
I've also decided that I want a world to fit it to, so I made a small plot synopsis preview to work with which I may or may not expound upon but don't count on it.
A young woman and her group of friends want to explore the world after being stuck on their tiny village by the coast their whole lives. Of course as they make their final preparations, their village gets attacked by planes oh no! Their home in ruins, now they have no choice but to leave. A member of the group who has fallen ill wishes to go to a legendary city in the sky, and the group decides to head there in hopes that they will not only be protected there, but that they can help cure their friend. Attacks are happening all over the continent and they're told that the city in the sky is the only safe haven in the world. And I guess they have 18 days to get there or something that would be clever.
Anyway I am kicking it off with the title screen because yes I'm doing it in order.
I will update this every day. They will generally be short tracks and probably not the best but I'll try to make this as good as I can! Here's to hoping I can make all 18 days.
This is an amazing idea, I'll definitely be following this through to the end. And I can only see it being beneficial in your quest to improve yourself - as long as it doesn't turn into complacency for creating quick tunes.
Not that I'm saying it will, and I know from your previous work that most likely that's not going to happen! But from experience, when I've seen things like these (and when I tried to do something like this myself), there can be a twitch in the wrong direction when it comes to making full blown new masterpieces. Although in the case of this, I think the pre-planning you've done should keep variety smooth and the pieces a joy to listen to! And what I'm saying probably isn't relevant at all considering you're waaay better than I was when I started my own song-a-day thingy.
@Traikan
There is no proximity that I will consider awkward. Bring it.
@Fish
I will accept no less than 36 sequels with subtitles of minimum 50 characters long.
@Imbrog
Yeah I had been going through those thoughts and worries of complacency, but the thing about this challenge isn't me necessarily being able to make a song a day. I think i know music well enough by now that I can just compose any old thing. The day I lose this challenge won't be because I couldn't make a song, but because I have given in to complacence or couldn't make a good song.
Before starting this theme I developed the character with Cucurbita.
This is a different RPG premise and heroine in the sense that rather than being the one to chase around the villains and save the world and whatnot, these people are just trying to run away and be safe, and protect their friend. Not only that but these people aren't really experts at combat or anything, the heroine just decides to pick up a shortsword not unlike this for traveling and defensive purposes. The heroine is a questioning and analytical individual, as well as an adamant (oh, oh, oh title drop) person, and in simplest terms as Cucurbita puts it, becomes more of an immovable object than an unstoppable force like other heroes. Hopefully this theme fits this heroine born out of necessity!
This theme would be played I guess whenever a point of resolve occurs or an objective is made or a morale boosting speech is said or a new person is joining the party stuff like that. At the beginning it could play first when the heroine decides that this is their time to travel and they need to get together and make their way through the country since they no longer have a home to go to.
In other words this theme would be played basically whenever the heroine does or says something heroinic. Err, yeah.
I updated the index as well, so that progress can be seen I guess. Up next, the overworld theme!

Wherein the primary antagonist razes the hero's village while said hero is a child but leaves him alive, thus prompting a decade of intense training and angst on the hero's part before he commits a string of acts of rebellion against the antagonist and the shadowy organisation he represents, over the course of which he will be joined by several party members (but no more than 2 at once), at least 2 of which are impossibly well endowed women, traverse at least 7 dungeons, 1 of which is a sewer, slay 9 bosses, kill the original antagonist, and potentially reveal a "true" antagonist pulling the strings behind everything the entire time.

Man, why is everybody so up about UC? WtPARtHVwSHiaCbLHATPaDoIT&AotHPbHCaSoAoRatA&tSOHRo tCoWHWBJbSPM(bNMt2aO)aL2oWAIW-EWTaL7D1oWIaSS9BKtOA&PRaTAPtSbEtET (also known to wimps and journalists who do not get paid by the line as NF9) is an underrated classic! Okay, a cliché classic, but still.
Sprak, Fish, I love you so much. That list didn't stop getting funny as I read through it, great job!
Also I'm going to try my best to have this overworld theme done today, but I had bad timing picking when to do this challenge, as to day is prom night. I am great at scheduling things. It'd be pretty terrible for this to be the reason that I fail this so I'm going to work even harder on this one.
Indigo are you at least two well endowed woman I DON'T KNOW ABOUT THAT
This is excellent stuff Nucleose! Following this thread and wishing I had music compositional talent hahaha
