Probably some of these votes are determined by who already owns what game—and people who have no stake in it at all are encouraged to vote, even, what with those stinking badges. But an interesting thing I noticed about the amount off (which is the only number listed on vote choices)... specifically, the first vote between 60% off Witcher 2, 66% off Arkham City, and 75% off Saints Row 3. If you halved each of those percentages, that would be very close to how the vote went down. Assuming U.S. pricing, all of those games would be in roughly the same price range if they won that pick, but only one of these things started at $50....
I don’t know the percentages for this one, but Trine 2 also started off at a higher base price than Limbo or Magicka. I imagine that given a pick and no particular preference, a lot of voters are just picking the one that looks like the best deal? Greater good, iffy head math, and all that.
Oh man these flash sales are devious, and apparently Steam is going to push them through notifications with the mobile app too. The savings... I can never escape them...
Also, I didn't see this mentioned here, but they seem to have added badges to your profile page. You can earn a few by voting for the community deals, and then there's a few for the usual things like recommending a game ad linking your Facebook account *shudder*.
Just look at your profile, and click one of the badges in the column on the right to see which ones you've earned already.
I wonder what they'll be used for (if for anything at all).

Try the Homestuck Character Creator! Easily make your trollsona, non-canon story character, or just some weird dude or dudette!
With the Dinosaur Comic Overlay Chooser, you can get even more out of the best dinosaur-centered webcomic on the internet!
Nah, I don't really mind them, just being dramatic. My wallet is pretty fat right now so let the sales come at me (bro). Plus I absolutely looooove mobile Steam chat so I don't think I'd ever uninstall it.
Oh also apparently there's an option to turn the push notifications off and Steam asked me before turning them on :V
I would love to watch all these sales and things, but we got a new router, and it is completely shit, so I can barely watch Youtube, let alone have the resource hog that is Steam running in the background.
well, that studio was already being absorbed by another rockstar studio, so i guess it doesn't matter at this point

You know you can just buy those individually, right?

Hence the second part of my post. They're still $5 a pop(cap) each. And they don't even have my favorite one :< It was like Bookworm, but used the hexagonal grid, and you had to form words next to tiles to unlock them, until eventually you used all of them at least once. I might still get Rocketmania, though.
These publisher/franchise collections can be a great deal if you have the money for them and they’re on sale and you’re really into what games are in them. But in the case of this collection for instance, the break-even point is wanting five (plus a very small fraction) games in it (that you don’t already have), because they’re priced $10 most of the time and are probably not going down from that.
I got the Quakecon pack back when that was a thing because of the combination of TF2 hats, Commander Keen, Fallout, Oblivion and Wolfenstein, the first and last of those being games I grew up with. And the only item in the entire pack I already owned was Fallout 3.

I personally voted for Trine 2 because... uh, I wanted Trine 2. Sorry 'bout that, missed the other deal.
I second the fact that you should all wait for Starbound, after the initial excitement for Terraria I have come to the conclusion that it's not exactly a good game. Still, it's a cool game for a fair price (and now even... more fair?) so yeah whatever, but I don't recommend it as something better's about to come out (was it end of this summer?)
>Buy Binding of Isaac for boyfriend on first day of sale.
>Game gets even larger discount on the second day of sale.
Same here for L4D2... except I don't have a boyfriend :V
Also everyone: Someone commented on my screenshot to get the summer sale achievement, and I replied in that very same comment section of that screenshot of mine, and got the achievement too.
Spread the word, they are bugged, TALK TO YOURSELF, BE CRAZY, WIN STUFF (actually no we don't know if you win stuff yet but still)
>Buy Binding of Isaac for boyfriend on first day of sale.
>Game gets even larger discount on the second day of sale.
That happens to me when I try to buy an app for myself on the AppStore. Except in the AppStore the game will be like $9, but 4 days later it's free..
Thankfully I read the steam forums and found out the steam sale might be coming the 12th (which it did) so I didn't buy anything. Not that I was planning to anyway.
Lets check out the deals.
>Civ V collection on sale for $25
Oh cool, its cheaper than when I got it. Wait.
>Civ V COLLECTION on sale. Civ V itself is on sale for $7.50
:U
I would suggest you get it. Its very worth eight bucks.
