Okay, so here's a train of thought:

Cat insults make fire spontaneously ignite in the general area of Katia.

Maybe apple insults will make the target fruit erupt into flame?

In a desperate effort to look like I have a proper reason for posting in this pristine thread, I am resubmitting these earlier commands:

Command for the Jul 23rd update

Right, Katia.

If you're going to master Magicks, you can't afford to be a scaredy-cat.
It may be intimidating to dip your feet into this new pool of knowledge, but hiding in a tree will get you nowhere.

You're going to purrsuade that fire just by wishful thinking, nor by throwing a hissing fit. Focus your fuzz-brained head on those apples, strike your best wizard pose, (paws for effect).

Find that sensation that makes your tail twitch and milk it for all it's worth. Clearly it's annoyance - not curiosity - that causes killing with this cat. Project it onto the apples - especially the one without a bite mark. It's the worst in the litter. Your last attempt was feeble enough that it's probably taking a cat nap waiting for something to happen. You're going to immolate that apple! If you set your mind to it, you're not one to stray!

If it helps, remember the smug bosmer who served you a plate of milk. He certainly knew how to stroke you the wrong way. Project his face onto the apples. You seemed to have no problems with projections at the dinner last night. He distracted you faster than a goddamn ball of yarn. But you won't let yourself get distracted from your target. You're a wizard now, not a crazy cat lady! You're going to make this spell work! Even if you're going to have to claw your way to a working solution!

It's now established that this workable feeling she got can set fire to grass. This is progress!

Katia should now:

1) Put the apples on the grass and aim for the grass beneath them.

2) Rotate about 60 degrees to the left to assist in aiming.

Point two was meant as a joke, but there may be something to it. Perhaps her powers are affecting things seen from the corner of her eye. Might she get better results from not focusing so hard and so directly on the thing she means to burn?

hmmm maybe your magic is fueled, or directed rather, by DEPRESSING, SOUL-CRUSHING EMOTIONS

maybe, just maybe, if you got sad or embarrassed enough you could fuel this fire of loneliness

imagine all the nobility of the land are on holiday and out to kill everyone you (currently) know and love (and worst of all, you're naked and those apples are making fun of you because of the sole reason you're a CAT)

if that doesn't work just focus on the naked part, i'm sure that'll make something turn up

Staring at these apples reminds Katia of her home. It's not because there were always apples around, the family just worked with a lot of produce.....on the farm.....yeah. Anyway, she had had a bad experience with an apple once while she was sitting in the house of a human smith who was a friend of her grandmothers and listening to the old cat and the old human talk to each other slowly about the drollest topics for hours and hours. It was horrible. This always happened when she was left with her grandma and she was always left with her grandma whenever her parents were away. The human was old school and believed very strongly that children should be seen and not heard so Katia would sneak away when she could without being scolded for rudeness. One time she found a bowl of fruit and she was very hungry because her grandma kept forgetting that she had complained of hunger. She picked up a red one and bit it. It turns out that her teeth weren't very suited to chewing on it.

So, needless to say, she wished that she had listened to them talk about Cinnamon spice as if it were a source of Freedom and fortune through enterprise and she through a hissy-fit like a pussy at the crabby old apple and decided that it was NOT (red) delicious though it was definitely red and she did like the aroma after her last baby tooth was ripped from the cat’s head she decided she preferred her apples dried thanks to granny and the smith and these were no exception. When she was done giving them a bright future through they would never get back on their feet, nor would they land on their feet even if an old momma tree would be missing her kittens.

Things to note;
There are two cat-apple combo puns and one actual burn for cat's and one actual burn for apples.
There are also some fire-apple puns in there. Be sure to mention which part, if any, actualy works.

I hate those apples so hard right now. Screw magic, punch the apples! Attempt to channel magic through your staff. Jog in place to get the magic juices flowing. Raise fists into the air in frustration, then collapse in resignation. Remind The Imperial Legion Soldier that you are more keen on unintentionally setting things on fire. Recall early childhood memories of being ridiculed by your peers, for no apparent reason. Eat some grass, become one with nature. Draw an invisible line from your mind's eye directly towards the center of the most threatening apple.

Magic is not calm and refined! Magic is wild and uncontrollable by nature! The most practices of Mages are talented simply at veiling this wild sense of destruction and creation! Listen to the voice that is telling you to burn things..! Do it...! Do it now!!

You can do it. Right now, what you're doing is manipulating the area around you. It's a pretty common start, nothing wrong with that. What you need to do is focus on your area of influence. You've set stuff on fire without even thinking about magic, but you've never tried to think about something outside of the scene directly around you at the same time.

You got the basics down? I don’t think so. You’ve got a suitable workaround, though. Most mages use their hands to direct the flow of their magic. Not sure how they do, though. Touching objects you try to burn may be easier than trying to burn them from a distance. Baby steps, Katia!

Actually, go ahead and pretend that those apples, the very ones in front of you, are the cause of all the failure and misery in your life. Once you incinerate those apples, you'll never drunkenly do your pineapple and yo-yo trick again. You might even grow a beard!

Katia: Take your staff and pose like a wizard, pointing your staff at the apples. Like this. Then shout something dramatic "You shall burn!" or something, whatever you think a wizard would say to make things burn, and and think about a cat burn. Or perhaps shout a cat BURN at the apples, that might work. Maybe even pretend the apples are mocking you.

Asotil: Daydream (night? morning? I don't know) about all the bandits you are going to "apprehend" on the road to Kvatch, maybe you will even get you hands on that green scourge, wouldn't that be something to deliver to the countess?

Apples: Mock the flegding Khajiit wizard with cat puns and device a villainous plot to kill the guard.
