Now, now, no one should say this game is flawless.

It's flawed as hell, but has an adamantine luster nonetheless. It's like the kind of gemstone you can dig out from your backyard and sell unpolished etc. to a jeweler for $20,000

I think Toady really needs to address the thihg wirh civillian tools being deadly as fuck.
Mainly because I was adventuring through the catacombs to kill a bandit, accidently found a load of mummies and one got a shot to my brain with a base quality copper boning knife through a high quality bronze helm and a cloak of some description.
No majjyks discovered so far, in either mode.

I made a ducklord that causes people to turn into ducks when it bites them.

I also made a "secrets of battle" that war gods can give that turns people into immortal warriors

I found my first vampire. She's twenty years old, according to her profile, and has eleven lines listing all her former entity affiliations. She's an adequate wound dresser and bone doctor. She's put off by authority and tradition. And becomes very rigid when she's angry. What I'm getting at here is that she's basically this chick.

Anyway, I made her my Chief Medical Dwarf. I have too many dwarves, and having one turn up drained of all his blood every now and then is a small price to pay for a medic who doesn't suffer from skill rust.

Do necromancers ever join your fort?

Not normally, I think. Immigrants are taken from the populations of dwarven fortresses, and necromancers tend to run off and build towers. I guess you could learn the secrets of life and death as an adventurer, and then retire to a fortress, and that would probably work.

Someone should try that with a mod where the playable race has towns.

Holy crap. In the seven months since I stopped posting here regularly, I've made over 3000 posts on the DF forums. Man I love that place.

Anyway, I've modded a lot more. I now have 4 mods released: Homestuck mod, DBZ mod, SCP mod, and another mod that I just kind of put stuff that I think will be fun that aren't derivative into.

Huh. I was lurking on the Bay12 forums earlier today and thought, "hmm, there are so many Homestuck readers here, I wonder if there's a thread for Dwarf Fortress on the MSPA forums?" And behold!

The devlog. Have you read it? Since 6/6/12, Toady has been working on bringing worldgen activities into gameplay. As of now, he's working on elf sites; he's including ALL creature sites in this update, human, elf, dwarf, goblin, and kobold. Also in the next update is the combat/move speed split, tracking, multi-tile trees, jumping and climbing.

And hopefully birth, aging and succession for all those sites. It's kind of annoying how the humans die off right now if you play a world for a couple of decades. :P

    Oh, that's what you meant.
I thought there was some sort of worldwide DF ARG.

    Running is gonna be great

Except when npcs use it to get away from me then it's gonna be stupid bs that shouldn't be in the game

For people who don't compulsively F5 the bay12games development log page, Tarn "Toady One" Adams has partaken in another interview.

As if there would be people who don't compulsively F5 the dev log. Who could bear to go without the latest news in tree climbing and elven orchards? Could you live with the knowledge that there could be all kinds of new and exciting tree-related hijinks going on in Dr. Adams' pre-release version, and you would not be informed? And if you could do that, could you still call yourself human?

Unrelated to the current discussion, I just spontaneously remembered the second-best thing related to DF:

    Nah, it's Boatmurdered.

I've forgotten how relaxing the music can be, though. I haven't really played since that failed attempt at a succession game almost a year ago.
