Yeah the code could actually be called a base 64 number, but what ends up punched on the card is the binary equivalent of that base 64 number. It's basically used to make an item's code more compact so that a 48 digit code can be squeezed into 8 digits.
I can't wait to see what sort of stuff they're gonna put together too. I really wanna get to the kernalsprite prototyping though. That's gonna be fun.
