I just assumed she would jam on her cutie-mark button until the machine started to work.

Also, you should look at It's Anyone's Game, and possibly update it! Cause it's awesome like that.

    >FS: Try to look through the door's window panel by putting your head through it.

You can't help yourself, you're just so curious about that door! All these myriad appearances in your imagination and finally it has a window. You poke your head through the not-quite-glass to take a look.

On the other side stares back at you a truth that nopony was ever meant to see.

You feel your mind slip away until nothing is left within you but unquenchable fury. In time, another pony appears in your dream room and you make short work of her. When at last you wake from your imaginary trance, you embark on a rampage throughout Ponyville, your murderous rage not ceasing until at last your entire timeline fades away into nothingness. You are... well, "dead" isn't quite the proper word. You have completely ceased to exist, soul and (later) body.

    <- GO BACK

    >FS: No wait, don't do that.

You don't do that. In the nick of time you remember Rainbow Dash reading you a passage from Daring Do and the Lady and the Tiger. In that scene, Daring thinks there's a tiger lurking behind a door, but she decides to open it anyway to make sure. Her amazing reflexes save her, but you're not confident that you could rescue yourself as easily should the need arise. You don't want to go through that window, um, if that's all right?

EDIT: Check it out, the links totally work! ;D

A good point. I keep assuming a keyboard. Fluttershy is clever, but I don't see her methodically messing around with the machines the way Twilight or Applejack would. Still,

    1) There are six keys plus the side bars. Pressing and holding a key, then pressing it repeatedly, might allow her to text like on a phone.
    2) Playing with the side bars could get her into texting mode.
    3) The console could have a pop out keyboard or a place to plug one it.

    --
FS: Blow out the candle and make a wish. (For a keyboard. Then play us some music.)

    --
Generating a passcode with only six keys, I'll guess we need to pick one of the cutie marks that has something to do with Dizzy or the Butterflies near her as the first element.

What is Dizzy Pinwheel's cutie mark?
Examine the painted butteflies closely. Are there any marks on them.
Failing all that, Dizzy is an active, dynamic Pegasus like Rainbow Dash. Push her button.

Are we playing a 2nd round of the FlutterMind game you gave us at the start of this sequence?

I think "esoteric" is the word. A few weeks back, Andrew offended some people by claiming that the Homestuck characters were aracial, that is, they were drawn (literally white skin, not pink or anything) and written not in accordance with any particular race and therefore the reader could project any race they wanted on the characters. Some people argued vehemently that certain characters lived lifestyles that were fundamentally incompatible with certain races, which Andrew viewed as an implausible concept. Then somebody pointed out this page, where John calls Dave white. Among Andrew's responses to this bit of information was temporarily changing the word "white" on that page to "Íæûë€Å."

Here in Hoofstuck, that character was originally called Ditzy Doo in all her appearances, until a minutes after the airing of the Last Roundup when I hastily retconned her to Derpy Hooves. Now suddenly that name is in question again (a topic which I would rather not have discussed here, by the way), so I decided to insert "Íæûë€Å" for a few days until things calm down.

Are we playing a 2nd round of the FlutterMind game you gave us at the start of this sequence?
Not really. There are definite similarities in that a series of symbols have to be input, but the method of getting them differs and in this case they're so-to-speak hardcoded instead of being randomized every time you reload the page. The proximity of the two series is just either fortunate or unfortunate, depending on how you look at it.

On firefox, as fluttershy goes through the door, the next command fades away.
I'm using javascript to alter that stuff until the site directly supports pages with zero or more than one next links, so it's just a matter of at what point the browser executes the relevant code. If you like, you can view it as extra-spooky that going through the door literally seems to remove the possibility of continuing through the story.

Whoa this just made a turn toward the dark.
What are you talking about? None of that happened, remember?

Does anyone notice the teeny-weeny drop in the amount of users here?
Well, I did spent most of the month of February with hardly any updates. I need to regain your trust. But this is the 16th (out of 623) most favorited adventure on the mirror site, and still climbing, so I wouldn't worry too much.

Oh god, now I'm just REALLY curious what's behind that door. Whatever that causes a pony to go complete psycho and kill each other, causing the end of that universe, CAN'T POSSIBLY BE BAD!!!!! HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!

Will this at least be some plot point? Just because Fluttershy didn't look in the window, doesn't mean whatever behind it ceased to exist.

Whatever it is, I don't want to know, because knowing what it is causes you to go ... well, essentially die, and then what's left of you kills everything in sight.

    Re: Fluttersleuth

I just watched "Putting Your Hoof Down." Good call on what happens when she goes through that door. Somewhat expected, but a good call nonetheless.

I realize I've been approaching this from an adventure game problem solving perspective, not a Fluttershy one.
    >Ask the console to unlock, nicely.

    >Cover the window of the door with the Dizzy Pinwheel poster. It will help if anything tries to come into the room.
(Some magical thinking on my part. [By manipulating symbols, one manipulates the things they represent. Useful in a place that is at least partly imaginary.] If the door is holding back Fluttershy's negative emotions, her aggression, her rage, they will now be, hopefully, moderated by her sense of responsibility. Or her attempts to act responsibly could be poisoned by the dark side of the force. :< )

So, she has a Dersite dreamer costume. I checked the Homestuck wiki, I don't see any discussion about what dreaming in one place vs. another might mean. Anyone have a thought?
