Because it's disgusting, Vriska is an underaged alien girl and she's undressing and wetting herself in almost the first post. Their review is cruel and should never have been posted but a lot of what it says is right and is why I do not like this adventure myself

I would first like to thank you for reading my metaphor in the most literal way possible, completely missing the point of said metaphor.

The thing is that just because someone is "screaming" it doesn't mean they're wrong. In fact, in this case, they're screaming because this is a very long series and every moment of it's existance has built up nothing but hate from the people who don't like this thing.

If you're writing a story of any kind, fanfiction, crossover, original fiction, or whatever, criticism is the single most important thing you will ever get, and ignoring it, no matter how rude the person posting it, your story is going to fail.

This story has already failed. We can't post calm and polite criticism because there is simply nothing you can do to save this story anymore. We have to scream or nobody will listen.

It is a thing that happens periodically and typically ends in a less interesting manner than it occurs, typically with some whiny third party begging us to stop fighting.

As for the topic at hand, I... don't really see what the point of this is? I mean I've dabbled in some "stop liking things I don't like" myself but this is pretty ridiculous.

You are focusing unusually strongly on the metaphor. Ignore it.

You don't train children by screaming at them when they do something wrong. You train children by telling them they are bad at something or good at something else, then telling them to do things the right way.

As for artists and writers, if you actually look at the real world and business practices, they basically are trained that way. Although instead of crapping on their desk, they're fired/demoted/kicked out and such, but either way you tell someone who is absolutely horrible at something that they are absolutely horrible at it.

If you don't do that, then everyone will assume they can be as bad as they want. And that will lead to the death of a community.

We are acting before it is too late.

If you are supposed to not read something if you don't like it, then the world will be filled with horrible shit because no one ever critiqued things.

This is not how the world works.

Also, where exactly did you get the Vriska hate from? You are acting like there are two polars, attracted and loathing. This is somewhat wrong.

Just throwing out stuff. Lets see, last I checked usualy Critiquing?(SP) is a job or a good hobby.
For example, TotalBiscut on Youtube has a bit of a review for first time playing a game. And states his thoughts on it. Which I usualy agree with, not always.
You guys have just randomly came in here and begin throwing "Critiquing?" at us, and not any other Fan Adventure. It seems kinda fishy. And Random. I mean really Random.

I only got to the end of the first one, and I couldn't give a damn to read the rest because I knew it'd end up as more of the same. I got the message; Terrastuck isn't perfect. Alright. But there's no reason to go into four huge fucking rants about why it sucks. One is fair enough, a "Why You Suck Speech" as TV Tropes would put it. But four? Jesus Christ. And for another thing, I'll admit that this writer has found a large number of bad things about Terrastuck. Any of the good? No. He's neglected the fact that the humour is rich, the plot makes sense, and the bringing together of the many characters isn't plagiarism; it's a celebration of talent and good storytelling. Also, give me one example of when he's "demanded" fanart. And one more thing that gets me; the writer seems to have a direct disliking of pA himself, despite not knowing him, or having ever talked to him. In short, what I'm gonna say is this; if you don't like something, leave it alone; don't study it for it's faults then write a fuckton of words on why it sucks.

What made you guys think reposting this guy's review was a good idea. Posters of the "essay" are jailed. If you don't like an adventure, you don't have to read it. The broken rule in question is Respect for your fellow posters.

If you have concerns about an adventure, PM the adventure mods Schazer or SleepingOrange. If you don't agree with how they handle it, you might as well leave.

I will also be looking though the rest of the recent part of the thread for anyone who lost their handle on the respect rule.

Oh neat, looks like Drillgorg already took care of things before I got here.

But because I'm as always an opinionated jackass, I may as well make my opinion known since I read through that entire rant and these last few pages.


The first part of the review was fine, very critical but still within the bounds of fairness. I can't take issue with any of the criticisms leveled by it, although the tone was a bit overly harsh. Were it by itself I would have chastised whoever gave it for the tone but reinforced that the contents were valid. A for effort, F for handling.

But they lost me somewhere midway through the second part and I stayed lost for the rest of the rant. The criticisms became less valid and the tone became significantly more venomous, crossing "The Line" almost immediately. There is just no need for that shit. There's criticism then there's just being a bastard.


I wouldn't claim that Terrastuck deserves to be called "Good". It's filled with amateurish mistakes and missteps and as a whole it feels rushed and somewhat poorly thought out. And even past that all it's pretty much just so much meaningless fluff and pure unrefined shenanigans. I'm not saying I haven't enjoyed it, but with regards to quality it lacks. But this isn't a problem, it's precisely what I would expect given that the writer very clearly is an amateur and would at best be described as "acutely inexperienced". No one has the ability to decide how good they'll be when they start and holding a lack of experience against someone is EXTREMELY bad form. Particularly given that PA seems to be Trying and Doesn't Know Any Better. Either of those changes and I'm going to become less polite, both of those change and I'll do a backflip over the line in the sand and start yelling at him too.

But until that happens, PA is a harmless noob. If you think his adventure is terrible, fine go do something else, like wander blindfolded into traffic. If you want him to be less terrible then you might want to try actually doing something about it. And no, that rant doesn't count.

Now if you'll excuse me I'm going to go back to suggesting commands and/or pointing out weird missteps in the plot when they become relevant.


tl;dr: PA just keep doing what you're doing. If you make any mistakes I'll call you out on them but I won't act like a jerk about it.
