    Forgotten Dungeon Escapades

    >Start
    A young boy stands alone in his room. He once had a name, but recently he seems to have forgotten it. This is probably due to the fact he has been here for close to three years, with no one to call out to him. He feels like now is a good time for a new name.

    Enter name.

    >Alphonse Elric
    That sounds like a cool name for a cool guy, but you're just a lowly undergrounder. There are no expectations for you to live up to, except for you're expected to stay in the under. But you didn't do that, did you? No. No, you did not. If you had stayed where you were supposed to, you would not be down here. You would be, oh, I don't know, hanging out with... someone. Someone...
    Anyway, you need a name that does not set any kind of standard that you would be expected to meet. Let's try again.

    Re: Forgotten Dungeon Escapades

    >Nemo
    Your name is Nemo, and today, the 1st of August is not a spectacular day by any measure of the word. It is, however, the day you are going to finally escape this dungeon. You hope. You stand in your “room,” deep under Mespeth City. As previously mentioned, you have lived here for around three years, though you can’t really tell the passage of time, considering you don’t get much daylight down here. You are not sure how you plan on getting out, and you barely remember how you got in.

    =>
    You, being the young, naïve explorer you are, headed aboveground from the slums and overheard people talking about great riches hidden beneath the city. Having grown up underground, you couldn’t really believe that there was anything of any value down there. However, you wanted to find out.

    =>
    Treasure of any kind would certainly be of great help to your family and friends back home. You made up your mind then and there to go treasure hunting. You ran back down the tunnel and to your best friend’s place.

    =>
    You just… can’t… remember… her face.

    =>
    You suddenly get a splitting headache. This happens whenever you try to conjure up memories. Perhaps they are best left forgotten, much like this dungeon. No one has been down here for hundreds of years, you’re sure. It’s not called the “Forgotten Dungeon” for nothing. Okay, so you’re probably the only one that calls it that, seeing as how everyone else seems to have, well, forgotten about it. You sure are getting hungry…

    What do you do?

    >Nemo: Turn out to be a girl.
    No, you are most certainly of the male variety. It’s all there, though it probably wouldn’t be if the dungeon rats had their way.

    >Nemo: Wonder why you don’t have a beard.
    You take a moment to ponder on your lack of facial hair. You, personally, have only seen old and crotchety men with beards. You do not appear to be such a person, so this could account for your smooth chin. Or perhaps it is because you are not a wise and feared wizard. No, you are certainly not able to cast spells willy-nilly or otherwise. You’re not sure, but the fact you do not possess a beard could simply be because you are only twelve years old. You think. It’s hard to tell without a way of keeping track of time. You are briefly disappointed by this.

    >Nemo: Eat some of that hay.
    You then contemplate the consumption of the hay upon which you sleep. You do not think this would be a good idea. Partly because you spent a lot of time gathering all of it up from the other dungeon cells, but mostly because it is quite old and probably poisonous. It is something to lie down on, though, and is better than the solid floor.
    However… It is rather tempting with its golden colour and faint ammonia smell. Also you are absolutely famished.

    =>
    GROSS! This is absolutely disgusting and you should never ever attempt that again! You have said that before, though. But perhaps it could serve some… other purpose? You know, other than just a bed.

    >Nemo: Make a fake, straw, beard.
    Yes. This is the best possible idea at this time. Best. Ever. Yes.

    ...Now what?

    You are done with eating strange old moldy things. You do, however, take a look at the hole. This is how the rats get in. They like to scurry around and eat anything you cook, without so much as a “thank you” or “I’m sorry for so rudely making off with your only source of nourishment.” The little fiends. But that’s okay, really, because you often like to make off with a major source of energy for them: their bodies. Their delicious, delicious bodies. But alas, you have not seen a rat around for quite a while. They’re smart and organised.

    What to do?

    You get the feeling that blindly shoving your arm into a crevice where rats are known to pass through is probably an incredibly stupid idea. Unfortunately – or fortunately, as the case may be – that is the only feeling you get. No fur, no gnashing teeth. Just empty air. You do not know what is on the other side of the wall, or if you ever explored it on your many escape attempts. It’s probably just another cell.

    Okay, what now?

    You, uh, suppose that might be an all right idea in theory, but, really, who would read your message and how would you get it to them? But you guess you can search for something.

    Where to?

    >Nemo: Show the rest of the room.
    Were you granted the ability to see yourself from above, you suspect your room would look something like this. The black parts are unexplored for whatever reason. It is quite empty indeed, and you are sure there are no writing implements of any kind in here. Well, it’s possible a piece of brick could be used in some way, but that’s not enough.

    What next?

    >Nemo: Discover latent psychokinetic abilities.
    Suddenly believing you can now break through a brick wall with your mind, you concentrate as hard as you can on the wall’s weak spot. You can sense the fibres of its very being; you can feel every pore in its surface and each miniscule crack running through it. You penetrate the stone with your mind, attempting to shatter it from the inside out.

    =>

    =>
    You succeed in looking like a total doofus. It sure is a good thing you’re down here where no one can see you, isn’t it?

    >Nemo: Examine doorway.
    Yup, that’s a doorway, all right. This does, however, beg the question why you would consider the need to bust through the wall. If you could not exit this cell, you would certainly have died a long time ago from dehydration. Alas, here you stand, thinking your mind is strong enough to break physical objects.

    So, where are you heading?

    Re: Forgotten Dungeon Escapades

    >Nemo: Explore!
    You successfully explore yourself out into the hallway. It’s not much of a change of scenery, seeing as all the walls are the same dull and damp brick. In front of you is a stretch of several more cells much like your own. Behind you, the hallway ends in a large room. You cannot even begin to comprehend just what this room would be used for. There is one just like it on the other end of the floor, a few cellblocks over. Oh, right, this room is where you stuck your arm into. You sure are forgetful these days. But you can’t reach that point from the other side. To your left is the room you just exited, and to your right is another cell.

    >Nemo: Venture forth with hand upon wall.
    You gingerly place your hand on the clammy wall. It is both sticky and slimy at the same time, which is not a pleasant feeling. Now maybe you can decide where to go.

    Which direction?
