...not quite what i intended, i was suggesting Kazerad say that cause we're always dragging our debates through his thread... but whatever.
So how do you feel about morrowind being a smoldering pile of ash, owned by a bunch of lizardfolk.
Man, morrowind, the unluckiest continent ever.

I recently begun to play Oblivion since my interest in fantasy has recently had a comeback in anticipation for Skyrim. I used to have Morrowind but never really got into it.
So I happened to stroll into Anvil and recognized the location as the setting for Prequel. With a strange starstruck feeling I visited the gay elves, Quill-Weave's (Who I previously thought to be a character only in Prequel) house, and the castle to see the Countass and A Stranger.
I felt like a damn giddy tourist.
verry tempting to mod a new Khajiit resident into Anvil, just so i can hang out with kat.
of course i have to figure out how to get the game to run on a laptop without it overheating first...
Protip, the stranger is part of a questline that infact, has something to do with an elder scroll. Try asking beggars for rumors around the imperial city and surrounding settlements.
I've been playing Oblivion again. :0 This character is the highest level and the farthest through the main quest I've ever gotten. I'm using a leveled lists mod that does some other tweaks, mostly making the game a bit tougher. I like having the possibility of taking a stroll through the forest and bumping into a gigantic, high-level monster when I'm at level two. It makes sense to me that there'd be a few hidden places where things were just too tough as opposed to vanilla where no matter what you do everything is carefully scaled to your current level. :/ Also makes bandits not all wear glass armor just because I reached max level.
I keep meaning to get around to it but instead every time just play more FO3. Proooobably will play Morrowwind first just because it will probably be even harder to get around to it after playing Oblivion.
I really don't get what they could have been thinking with the way items level for bandits and marauders. Hey, you know that ultra-rare weapon you love so much that you got at level ten? Well, your reward for reaching level twenty is everyone else in the world also has it.
Playing Morrowind after Oblivion is definitely kind of hard. While it's usually regarded as the best in the series, Morrowind is incredibly poorly designed from a gameplay perspective. The combat system took Daggerfall's concept of multiple attack types but removed the part where they have different hit chances - meaning every weapon has an undeniably "best" attack type, and you are usually just going to use that same move again and again until your enemies die. There's also a huge reliance on randomization. Like, it's not uncommon for a magic spell to do "1 to 40 damage".
In my opinion though, the biggest problem with Morrowind is the travel. They took out the fast-travel, they took out horses, and they put 90% of the quest-relevant locations in the middle of nowhere. After the scenery loses its charm, walking gets very old very fast.
I recently I went back to Morrowind, this time playing as a male (+50 speed) Argonian (+15 athletics) with a custom class that had speed as a favored attribute (+10 speed?) and Athletics as a major skill (+30 athletics) and born under the sign of the Steed (+25 speed). Fucker is like lightning. I named him Fetch-Quest.
Him and a lot of the other hundreds- or thousands-years old mage types. You don't last centuries by being easy to kill.
...actually, thinking about it, they're probably still there in their magically-tempered homes, waiting for all the ash and volcanic activity to blow over while they do their respective research and whatnot.
This signature has been hidden in plain sight.
my favorite memory from morrowind was kicking all the non-beast folk out. mainly because it was more challenging than the plot.
and by kicking out i mean stealthily and systematicaly murdering every single one. ...except for the unkillable ones, had to get creative with them.

The blindness doesn't bother me that much; it's actually kind of fun navigating via the map. You can pretend the little dot moving across the landscape is the map in the background of a travel montage.
And yeah, I installed a mod so I could wear boots as an Argonian for that very reason.
