    Small Gods (A Textventure)

Disclaimer: Unfortunately, until I magically learn how to draw, or a kind artist decides to join me in this ventures, this adventure will lack drawings. It is sad, but I hope to make up for it by means of engaging gameplay.

Before we actually get playing, there are some settings to set!
Number of Contestors: (any number between 3 and 15)
Topography: (for example: Marshland, Desert, Forests, ...)
Number of Shrines: (any number between 3 and 9)
Associated Suit: (hearts, spades, diamonds or clubs)

No further explanation is given, so I guess you're just going to have to make educated guesses as to what are good choices.

    Polling results are in!

    Number of Contestors: (7 + 7 + 12)/3 = About 9
Topography: Steppe, surrounded by mountains, sprinkled with remains of ancient cities
    Number of Shrines: 4
Associated Suit: As of yet undecided. We need a tie-breaker up in here!

You have spent a long time dreaming, waiting... forgetting, until you were but a shadow of your old self. There is no more memory of who you were, and up until about five seconds ago, there was even no you. But you have returned. You look about you and see a human dressed in thick wool, a shovel and a burlap sack swung across his back. He is bowing before a shrine. Your shrine, you realise. He looks up, and you see he is but a boy. His hand caresses the ancient stone of the shrine.

"I know not what kind of god you are, but this place has always brought me comfort"
    He chokes down some tears.
"My- my dad used to be religious. He'd pray to a different god, but I never much liked her. I- I like the serenity of this place"

He is quiet for a while. Your senses grow stronger, strong enough to be able to survey your environs. Your shrine is in a small, muddy cave. Critters crawl around here. You also notice two fresh graves. One with a big cross on it, the other with a smaller one.

"They're dead" he says, "My dad and sister. The Dragon Emperor's soldiers killed them. They're moving forward, planning to take over the valley. I- i don't know what to do. I've come to ask for advice. I hope you can help?"

He's asking for help? You're but a fledgling god now, you're not even sure you can manifest. You check your Deck to see what you CAN manage.

Deck: 2 of Hearts, 2 of Spades, 2 of Clubs, 2 of Diamonds

Well, if you so wish you could expend a two of hearts to commune with this boy. You'd have to figure out what to say though. It's hard to maintain the all-powerful god facade if you don't know the first thing about the world you're living in.

You should also make a definite decision about what suit you will favour.

    Associated suit: HEARTS.

    *shades*

    Also, expend them thar hearts.

"Child, I know the pain you feel, and would help you if I but could. Alas, the wane of ages and the callous acts of mortals have wearied me, and I have little power left. However, should you aid me in regaining my lost might, I shall return your kindness a hundredfold."

    Great tie-breaker, Airedar

You expend your 2 of Hearts to commune with this boy. A small flame flickers to life on your shrine. Your voice booms in the small cave.

"Child, I know the pain you feel, and would help you if I but could. Alas, the wane of ages and the callous acts of mortals have wearied me, and I have little power left. However, should you aid me in regaining my lost might, I shall return your kindness a hundredfold."
The boy is shocked, but quickly regains his composure. He gets up from his kneeling position and looks about.
"You have answered my call? I- I have so many questions. Can you bring back my father and sister? What should I call you? Where should I head next? How do I return your power to you??"

So many questions, and you have so little answers. A name you could probably make up. As for helping him, you can only help him insofar as your deck allows, as well as give him some advice, you suppose.

You check your deck. You could just about raise one of the dead rodents lying around with your 2 of Spades, but his father and sister? No dice. You could give him a small boon with your 2 of Diamonds. Something like a Holy Symbol would be a nice gift, and convenient for you, but you'd have to decide what your Holy Symbol looks like.

Your 2 of Clubs... You don't want to use that on him. He seems nice.
