"I'm sure you would rather have an explanation of yourself, though. You are a specimen of the Transmutation Project, a sort of 'blank slate' able to reconfigure itself into virtually any form over time. I will leave these details entirely up to you.
"This cannot be done limitlessly, however. Transmutations will require the use of an unusual substance known as 'S-EU-001', more commonly (albeit erroneously) referred to as 'V-energy'.
"You will be provided with this substance throughout your testing, and have been provided with a small amount to begin. I would recommend you use this store of energy to render yourself mobile. The subject preceding you decided it would be wise to expend all of its energy on covering itself with eyes. It was, naturally, reduced to its base components by way of plasma turret. I hope you will not make such an error."

Grow a couple of jointed five-fingered claws... even stubby ones at best. They're not the best for fighting or maneuvering but at least they offer some protection.

It's probably best to start simple, a couple pairs of legs should do the trick; try to make the front legs useable as arms as well
