What Pumpkin Stencils?: A Halloween Fan Project

Foreward: Hey guys, like a lot of projects started the Fan Project forum, this isn't much more than a couple of ideas and a tumblr blog I just started, so this is kind of a work in progress. That being said, I thank you for joining us on our SPOOKTACULAR mission.

All Hallow's Eve is just coming around the corner, if one could not tell from the shrieks of cackling witches and hissin' kittens of the dark pelted persuasion. And if there's one thing all you Boys and Ghouls (and trolls) love, it's the traditional carving of America's favorite groundfruit, the Pumpkin. But, there was a time where we did not control these rare and elusive seed-barrels, who outwitted and outfoxed our forefathers with relative ease. In a stroke of genius, these valiant men domesticated the pumpkin through a yearly marking ceremony, where in these mysterious plants would be branded with a symbol of the mens choosing (dont know if any of this is real or not but dont wanna kill my flow with a visit to wikipedia) thus leading to the conquering of the Orange devil (I too am not really sure how that led to the conquering, but trust me, it did). To this very day, we follow our ancestors ancient and slightly off-putting customs, branding our own Pumpkins with all manner of spooky, ghosty imagery.

That's where you come in, gentle reader. Me and my associate (known as abhorrentConfectioner around these parts) have set-up a tumblr to store stencils based around your and mine favorite webcomic MSPA. We would love you guys to submit some of your own designs, so that the whole internet can create their own badass, ever disappearing pumkins. Then when the 31st comes around, we hope to post the results to our tumblr page for the internet to enjoy.

If you want to submit, post the image on this thread, upload it through our tumblr page, or tag your own tumblr post with the tag #MSPAStencils. We aren't forcing any dimension limitations on you, but I'm sure most of you folks realize you that not much more than the standard 8 1/2 by 11 inch piece of paper will fit on an average sized pumpkin. It would be a big help if you would give an estimate on a difficulty level alongside your posting of the image.

ALSO, if you're not so hot with the photoshop or what have you, DON'T WORRY. You can still make suggestions here on this thread or the tumblr, and we'll be sure to set up a Request list here. We can't make any promises on whether it will exist or not, but at least your idea will be chronicled in some form or fashion, available to any browsing artists.

If you want pictures of actual pumpkins carved using the stencils, I made a Bec pumpkin last year!



(It's technically an artificial craft pumpkin, so I'll try to snag a less blurry picture of it this year if I get the chance)

I traced around both the inside and the outside of the Bec outline, leaving a few little "bridges" of pumpkin connecting the Bec head shape to the rest of the pumpkin, so I could just make it a thin outline like the one WV has.
