The tastiest book is not in this room! Unlike every other book in your collection, it is not waterproof and therefore must be kept in the DRY SECTION of your castle-hive. That's also where the food preparation block, respite block, and technological entertainment block reside, as sopor slime and electronics just don't go in water. Despite popular belief, seadwellers don't actually want to eat raw seafood all their life and sleep on a bunch of soggy beanbags.

Your dragons are smart enough to not follow you this way. They don't have dual-environment collapsing and expanding bladder based vascular systems, after all.

All the objections for that idea, though! You have no reason to do such a thing.

H'dzrtylz's feeding time is right around the corner, so you're already limited in how long you can afford accepting commands and reading books and such. Screwing around in your hallways providing no exposition whatsoever is pretty much the worst possible thing you can do at this moment in time. Besides, wouldn't everyone much rather to hear a story or watch you accomplish things that are meaningful rather than wanton tomfoolery of the time-wasting variety?

You also have to get your dragons' food from the food preparation block. Really, why else would you have not fed them already? That would be SO totally unjust to neglect beings under your care when you are fully capable of helping them!

Though they COULD just make like the rest of your pet dragons and go feed themselves, but you have a feeling these guys are too lazy to do that. Stupid slimy scaly bastards.

Here it is; the BANISHED DISCIPLE'S JOURNAL, oldest book on Alternia! You're pretty sure it's the oldest, anyways. It's rare that any single piece of literature survives past a half a century -- what with the book burnings and historical cover-ups that happen every time a new ruler takes the throne and all -- and this one predates modern society by at least nine thousand sweeps. You know this because, aside from the writer's own guess, it's written on vellum, and that fell out of use more than a thousand Condesces ago.

What this ancient log describes is the trials, triumphs, thoughts, teachings, and ultimate termination of the author's mentor. You won't give any tremendous spoilers, but you will say that she is definitely the most educated troll of her time. Her arguments against the hemospectrum, observations of the psychology of all the different blood castes, and trollistic optimism are what pushed you towards establishing a hemospectrumless future in the first place as they were all completely valid points and had plenty of evidence for their existence. You shudder to think what kind of callous, priveledged brat you'd be if you had never found this book and seen the dark. Probably a really bad one with a sprinkled topping of warped justice on top.

Mayhaps it be meet to jot the date of tonight in full detail, but a stab at the current sweep is pawll I can do. I digress. Tonight, whatever the exact may be, mawks the Genesis Of The Scriptitation Of Her Revered Serendipity's events, my own tholements withheld. Though my effurts may nary be discovered and this book turned to dirt or ash by wanion, I shall take the danger. Peshorja would be loathe to see pinches of pessimism in mine script, but purrhaps if she beheld what her world has transformed to, she would be more receptive.

tl;dr for the hiatus is that a) i found out i had tonsiloliths, b) my parents adopted three children that have developmental issues that i have to help correct and i have to surprise babysit them (like tonight; this update was actually supposed to be a few panels longer BUT i ended up having to babysit them all day. adfkjaldfk.), and c) i just plain couldn't make any updates?? seriously, everything i made was just total pbbbbbt, text or pictures or otherwise.

there's also a new updating system, where i'll update the mirror whenever i get new updates ready and then i'll update the forum on sunday/whenver i'm fresh out of commands and panels to go through. in other words, forum-goers will have to wait for their updates while mirror-readers can "cheat" and get them a few days ahead of schedule. if you have a problem with this, that is just too damn bad. you'll just have to throw a fit like a two-year-old and stop reading to make yourself feel better or something.
