    Guys. Guys.
Kat is an Angel (to the robots)
The Tic-Tocs are magical bird robots "created by a divine being" (http://www.gunnerkrigg.com/archive_page.php?comicID=648)
Kat gets robot ideas from bird wings (http://www.gunnerkrigg.com/archive_page.php?comicID=757)
The Chapter title is Divine, with a picture of a pigeon (City Face?) (http://www.gunnerkrigg.com/archive_p...p?comicID=1028)
Kat builds the Tic-Tocs, which is why they save Annie way back when she falls off the bridge (http://www.gunnerkrigg.com/archive_page.php?comicID=125) and sends them back in time somehow(?)

I think she has some sort of world inside her head? And it's crazy. I'm guessing it's kind of similar to whatever 'world' (or plane? Is there an official word for this?) Annie goes to when she uses her blinker stone. Anyway, it seems like that 'world' fills her head up with all sorts of information, so she needs Gamma to help her make sense of everything.

damnit in hindsight this seems stupid obvious, what with her bird thing and all. I think maybe there is more it than that, though.
I really should see about getting a new signature.

    Re: Gunnerkrigg Court

So but are we looking at Zimmy here, who thinks she's not Annie, or Annie who thinks she's Zimmy?

    Re: Gunnerkrigg Court

I think it's Zimmie who thinks she's Annie while thinking she's not herself, but is really Coyote.

Well she looks kind of robotic so maybe it's Jones.

The way Jones explained it, Zimmy is extra-sensitive to the ether, which causes her to spontaneously manifest images from her (extremely messed-up) subconscious/imagination in the real world. Gamma's presence helps keep her mind clear and keeps her unconscious reality-warping in check.

There's been no time travel so far! I'm going to place my bet on "nope, but maybe we find out more about the actual origin of the Tic-Tocs?" (With maybe some foreshadowing re: the divine being Kat is following in the footsteps of)

Yeah the time travel part is basically me going "And now I've run out of idea theory" but I'm pretty damn sure that Kat has something to do with the Tic-Toc's now.

I'd rather have no time travel involved.

    It ruins things.

    Re: Gunnerkrigg Court

Well several Vonnegut novels have to deal with time or time travel or the nature of time. It's reflected in the narrative of the story, and characters often have realizations concerning time or coincidences. Gunnerkrigg really hasn't left Annie's side except for several flashbacks in the form of quick memories or literal projections. Furthermore, the court and the forest both grow organically, one is just with actual organic matter and MAGYK and the other is with metals and SCIENCE. Time travel and organic growth are sort of at odds with each other if you're trying to keep a consistent theme. The court nor the forest are really going to employ time travel for any means (I mean maybe Coyote could but he's a god so w/e he can do w/e it's w/e). So if Kat were to somehow be related to sending those ticky birds (which aren't really in her style either, since she makes things using the court's robots as models which come from diago's models which are actual golems) back in time, she would have to invent the technology herself, which if she managed to do before she graduated would be quite the feat! ho ho! Or she would have to employ the aide of MAGYK which isn't really her thing either, or the help of a god like Coyote which also wouldn't make a lot of sense given what we know about pretty much everything so far. The ticky birds are also "watchers" -their stares make zimmy uncomfortable, "guardians" -rescued annie for reasons unknown, "seeds" -the planted one takes root and starts proliferating technology onto the natural land. I don't know why Kat would have a reason to make a robot do any of those things except maybe on accident but that's MAD STUPID.

tl;dr: there won't be any time travel and kat didn't have a hand in buildin' da ticky birds

    ...H2G2 series?!?!?!?!?!?!

Also, time travel's great when it's actually explored instead of just used as a cheap plot device.

The Time Machine (you know, someone had to say it).

And although Star Trek is easily (and should be) criticized for overreliance on time travel (and is not lit), the fact remains that several of the most memorable stories from the entire franchise involved it.

Regardless, yes, it’s true, I don’t see how it would fit into Gunnerkrigg very well. Well, other than the satellite undergoing time dilation because it’s in space BUT who says Einsteinian physics matter in a verse with majyyks etherics?
